Default Is my Alternator Crapping Out?

Hey all,

Over the last couple of days I have noticed a whine that almost sounds like a transmission or power steering whine coming from the front of my engine. It can't be the tranny because of the location of the noise and it can't be my power steering because steering the car doesn't affect the noise at all.

From what I've read online, it could be either my alternator going bad, or any one of my pulleys with a bad bearing. It doesn't sound like a bearing grind or whistle, although I know that I do have a bad pulley bearing already. This is a new noise. It sounds like a metallic whine and its loudest when I first start the car up. It seems to go away after the car runs for a while. I will hear it at the start of a trip and it will be gone at the end of the trip. It doesn't happen every day either.

I'm leaning towards the alternator being the culprit as I'm also having headlight flickering and interior lighting fluctuations.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Cody
