a whole slew of stuff on my '99 4dr 4wd Jimmy
One - I need a Front Splash Apron. GM wants $150 w/o hardware. When I got this replacement for my totalled blazer it didn't have one and I didn't think there'd be a problem finding one. No luck on craig's or ebay. Still looking. No salvage around here has one. Anyone got a source...?
Two - Anti-locks. The ABS activation light was on when I bought this thing and they attributed it to the new hub being installed a week earlier. So I check things out and it appears they re-used the original sensor in a new hub using two shims. The sensor was dirty so I cleaned it and checked the distance from the surface to the reluctor. Took one shim out and the light still shines on me. I know there is a method for determining where the issue is (I figure it could be either sensor), but I haven't been able to re-find the write-up.
Three - I have backed off the RC 2" suspension lift until someone (could be me) comes up with the bracketry to drop the front axle 2" to avoid wearing out the CVs. So....2" body lift is back on the table. Woohoo. What does this do to the tow hooks...? I have needed them in the past and figure I will again.
Four - is there a light bulb behind the 4wd switch...? I don't want to open up the dash and then need to put it back together only to open it back up in order to source the bulb.
Five - there is a harness with two, two prong plugs forward of the radiator support. there is something plugged into one and it's a small thing clipped to the support. The other is missing. What is this...?
Six - How's the R&R on the CV shafts on this thing...? They took out the flanged connection and now it's splined with a snap ring. Any issues or tools beyond the norm for this...?
Seven - when I got parts yesterday they asked me if I had the 'high - wide' suspension. I supposed they meant the hi-rider which wasn't offered on a 4dr. My truck does sit higher than my '99 blazer and it has an aluminum front diff skid plate and a carbon fiber transfer case plate. Off-road package maybe...? I don't know much about the options on these beyond the differences between ZR2/hi-rider and all the rest.
Thanks......

In no particular order...... Your CV joint just slides back on and the snap ring will snap into place. Just need a rubber mallet. The light behind your 4WD switch is soldered in the circuit board. I used a #7382 bulb on the auto switch & 7219 for the others. The challenge is getting the colored covers off the bulbs to reuse 'em. You can carefully pry the switch out of the dash prying at the top without ripping the dash apart. The sensor on the front support is for outside air temp on the overhead display, don't worry about the mystery plug - you're not the first to mention it...... If you disconnect the ABS sensor and check with a meter at the plug, first check resistance, it should be between 700 - 2000 ohms. Spinning the the wheel quickly by hand should generate at least .1 volts AC.
