Why is the alarm goin' off????
#1
Once again i have another problem with my POS.
I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer LT 4DR 4x4 Automatic.
I was awakened early this morning by the alarm going off. This first seemed odd since i have not used the keyless entry remote in over 2 years since it got dropped into the river, but it doesn't stop there.
After getting to the truck, the alarm stopped right before i reached for the door. I inserted the key and tried to unlock the door, but it was already unlocked!
After scratching my head i went to lay back down, but couldn't get the problem outta my head so i went back out. Just as i was walking outside the alarm sounded yet again. I inserted the key and unlocked it and it turned off.
I tried to lock the doors with the electric switch-nothing. The doors stayed unlocked. I kept playing with it and heard a clicking noise coming from under the steering coloumn right by the gas/brake pedals.
I then got in the truck and shut the door. Started it and ran fine for a couple minutes. I shut off the ignition and again tried the locks. This time they worked, however the security light stayed illuminated when it was locked and flashed when it was unlocked. It has always just flashed before even when it was locked.
I am now sitting on the porch drinking coffee scratching my head, and the locks keep locking and unlocking by themselves.
I apologise for the long post, just trying to give y'all and accurate account of what happenned. Any ideas where i should start?
Also, the alarm system is all stock.
Upon further tinkering, it seems the alarm only sounds when I lock the doors electrically before shutting it. Appears that something is making the doors unlock and that is when the alarm sounds. In addition, even with the truck running the locks continuously try to unlock. And it is all the doors, not just the driver's.

Since you are in NC, I would contact Brian (orangesonoma). He is really good with alarms. He's a member on this site, but he's mostly on s10forum.com. I would shoot him a PM and see if he can look over your truck to see why it's doing that.
