Wipers, and Windows
Hey all,
More problems with my lovely Blazer today.
My wipers aren't working worth poo. They work sometimes, and other times I just hear an annoying buzz but they don't move (it's almost like they are telling me I have answered a game show question incorrect so I will not be rewarded with functioning wipers). If I give my hood a bang they start to work for a while and then fail. If I open the hood and wiggle the connection, they work for a while then quit.
The odd thing is... They work every morning. It seems to be ok after the truck sits overnight.
Would this be the cold solder problem? Or is the motor just shot? This is actually my 3rd motor this year... the last 2 just wouldn't turn off.
Aaaaaaaaand.... problem number 2
My drivers door window just decided to quit working. I parked my truck, rolled up the window, ran inside a store, came out 5 minutes later, started truck, window no workie.
There was no symptoms of a failing motor previously.
When I hit the switch, the dome light dims a bit so I know there is power draw.
Bad connection? Or just bad motor?

Could be cold solder or a bad motor, also you may be having trouble up stream. Put a volt meter on the terminals of the motor and that will tell you alot.
As for your power window:

Thanks. I was dreading a bad window motor.[:@]
I guess I'll do some digging around and test some voltage this weekend.
It's just odd because the window motor was strong and had no issue whatsoever before it quit.

My window motor was the exact same way. Although I did have intermitants where it would stop working, luckily in the up position. It was when it just stoped in the mid-way position that I did something about it.
Reviewing the play it could be that dirt got into the worm screw, you might want to try soaking it with some penetrating oil and bounce the switch a couple of times and see if it frees up.

I'm going to rip her apart this weekend and see if I can get to the bottom of it. Thanks for the tip on the worm screw.
The amount of small problems that this blazer has developed in the last few months is gettingstupid already. It's almost like it got jealous of my new car.
The wiper motor was doing it's thing again last night. I popped the hood and gave the connector a wiggle and they worked fine for the rest of the night. Sometimes all it takes is a pothole to get them to stop/start working. I'll run some voltage tests and see if this is a connector, or board issue.
If it's anything more serious than that... I'll just find a reason to park it in my city's "North End" for an hour. Blazers tend to disappear quite quickly in that area.
Thanks for the help
