wiring prob with the POS
i havent even had a chance to fix the noise in front end yet and my 96 s10 balzer seems to have a short or something now. i was goin to gas station an all the sudden my gauges got stuck so i check fuse an 10amo is blown. i replaced it an 20seconds later i heard it pop again and all dash gauges stop workin again. my daytime running lights go out my 4-wheel drive switch wont work i cant tell speed, rpm,volts,oil,temp no nothinand they keep blowin 20sec after i replace them. the real annoying thing is when it got dark and i needed head lights they work but that damn alarm for leavin keys in ignition when u get out stays on the whole time the lights r on so my haklf hour drive home i had to hear that annoying *** alarm. would i be better off gettin full coverage an blowin the damn thing up or can u help me figure out where the short is cuz i cant keep drivin round not knowin how fast im goin or at night with that daMN ALARM ON. PLEASE HELP AND ONCE AGAIN YOUR INPUT IS APPRECIATED THANK YOU
new problem just discovered. i was lookin through haynes manual an noticed daytime runnin lights r on different fuse than the 1 thats blowing. that fuse isnt blowing but the lights r still going out when the gauges fuse blows. so now im really confused i cant figure it out y would they go out when their fuse isnt blowing? they have to be connected somehow? please help me figure this out some1
after more investigation i checked relays in glovebox an they seem to b in working order so next i put a 20amp fuse to replace gauges 10 amp and it held but truck voltage gauge is readin low and had trouble startin so i pulled DRL/fog fuse and put 10 amp back in gauges slot where it belongs and it isnt blowing anymore but voltage gauge is still low. so im thinking it has something to do with drl and i dont really need them so i kept that fuse out and we'll see how long 10amp gauge fuse holds up its good so far which makes me think it has somethin to do with DRLs i just dont know exactly what yet because voltage is srill low it should still have a bad ground or something somewhere. if im wrong tell me if not tell me if u have any better ideas please tell me and help me figure this one out. electrical problems r the worst when it comes to vehicles id rather something functional break that i can fix easy. please some1 help if u have any ideas. thank u for listening
sob i put bigger fuse in and pulled drl fuse and it lasted bout 2wks and now 20amp fuse is blowin so is problem gettin worse? should i keep puttin bigger fuses in till problem finally fries and i will be able to find it then? another thing im startin to notice my air bag light on dash is lit up i dont remember if it always was bvut now it is could that be a prob? or not if it always suposed to be lit. please any help is appreciated
DO NOT continue on the course you have choosen. You can and probably will fry your entire vehicle by just putting in larger fuses. That is very wreckless to say the least. You've got to tear into it and find the faulty wiring before you melt more wires together as you undoubtably already have.
ive been checkin what i can and still cant find the problem but on top of the alarm that tells u lights r on when keys r off and that stays on the whole time im driving the dome light that supposed to shut off as soon as the vehicle starts has been stayin on till it times out. i never noticed it before. i cant understand why that stays on too. i called parts store to see if they had a computer to check wiring aNnd they dont but said it could be light switch due to the alrm stayin on. i checked it and cant find anythin wrong with it.. this is driving me nuts. more help please
i called parts stores they dont have any kind of diagnostics for lectrical probs. it started gettin worse w/out the bigger fuse in no fuse at all. it wouldnt get anywhere it was killin battery i charged and it would die fast so i took batt and alt in and checked batt had dead cell so i got new 1 free on warranty big boy 800cca and it still dyin fast w/out the fuse in. it had 14volt when i put it in and checked it was runnin w 14 volt but after 1st 5 hours it wasnt holdin anything near that it hold 11.5 if im lucky. i checked all wiring uderneith they all have heat shields and look good. there was 1 up top that touch manifold and melted heat shield but wires were fine. i cant sit in idle cuz whatevers drawin power seems to b pullin more than alt can keep up with. its drivin me nuts im bout to take it to garage but im affraid of payin arm and leg. if u know any1 who will do str8 up trade i jus want somethin like a neon w good gas millage but its goota be in good shape let me know or ill sell it $10,000 o.b.o. it has new engine an tranny and its loaded power everything and all leather only 30,000 miles on both eng an tranny. some1 please help me if u can
