Default wont scan

I have a 1995 chevy 4.3 cpi fuel injection s-10. It has an obd2 style plug in it, but my innova 3140 scan tool will not read it. Does anyone now why it wont read it? All fusses in cab are good. Also, can I jump anything at the plug with a paper clip, and get the check engine light to flash like older chevy's, to get my codes, and if so where do I look up what the flashes mean.

There were two computers used in the '95 model year that came with the OBD2 style plug. Only the one with the PCM located on the passenger fender under the hood is completely OBD2 compliant.

If the PCM is not on the passenger inner fender, then the system is OBD1.5 and requires a special scan tool to read the OBD2 type codes. OBD1 type codes can still be read using the paper clip method. There is another post around here somewhere that details which pin to ground.

Thank you very much for the info. My computer is on the fender well, so, since its an obd2, that is a bummer my scan tool will not read it. It does sense that its been hooked up, but thats all it does. It will not read any data

If it senses that it is hooked up, it should be able to read the codes.

Check the CIG fuse just to make sure that it isn't blown which would cause the DLC to be unpowered.
