Yet ANOTHER stuck key
Hey everyone,
I've searched through the forums pretty well, and came across several stuck key issues. Like everyone else, I have a floor shifter and used to have some success pushing the shifter into park several times, but not anymore.
I kept hearing about a white plastic bit that I could remove or zip tie to get my key to release. It's stuck just before the battery and off modes. The battery light stays on when I leave the vehicle. I'm going to take it to a dealer tomorrow because I leave for a very long trip Sunday, and I am under my center console looking at the mess of plastic and wires and wondering how I can fix this on my own (college student = poor)
Thanks in advance, guys.

Looks like we are in the same boat!

Lol,
This is an easy fix, and it happened to me as well. I wish I had a good picture to show you, but basically you want to look underneath where your ignition is. When your looking from underneath there, you will see little plastic piece that can be removed from the cowling of the steering column. Remove that plastic piece with a screwdriver or something, and ram your pinky up there. you will feel a button like thing move up and down. when its all the way in the up position, go ahead and turn your key and pull it out. Im not a hundred percent sure what this is supposed to do for you because you cant pull your key out if the ignition is on anyway, but i just shoved a bit of paper in there so I don't have to use my pinky every time
