1999+ AHL disable - DISCUSSION THREAD
just you wait for a sweet sig. i need more blazer pics though (of mine of course.)
keep an eye out, i dont wanna hijack a thread so im going to start one of my pictures. i love to show off, even the stuff i do at work is pretty cool sometimes.
I did this on my 98 (no the dome light button trick doesn't work) with a 1k ohm resistor as you described. I wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape and it worked EXACTLY as described. Took only a few minutes from taking the speaker cover off to putting it back on. Thank you. I disabled it because sometimes there are cases where I would not want my lights to be on or I would just use my parking lights or fog lights for stealth (obviously I would not have them off on the road. This is off road ) if I need to go somewhere or leave somewhere quietly. These auto headlights were more trouble than they are worth at times and have even almost gotten me in trouble in a couple cases.

Hi everyone i have been checking out the threads on how to disable the auto headlights. I have a 1999 blazer 4 dr LT and i have 2 sensors. One in the Pass. side speaker and one in the center of the winshield defroster grill. I pulled the DRL relay in the fuse box under the hood and that killed the DRL but i read it also shuts off one high beam light.Which it does. I have had the sensor unplugged in the speaker for a while now and the lights would only turn off when it was fully daylight out and go on before it was fully dark out. Now just the other day when i started it after getting gas parked under the shadow of the gas station canopy they turned on and now wont shut off at all. Only when i turn the truck off do they go off. Any clue to why they wont go off at all? I plugged back in the sensor in the speaker. I even switched the two. Nothing. Any ideas how to turn these off for good before i try the resistor idea and put the DRL relay back with the the bent #86 relay prong. thanks
This is how to disable automatic headlights on 1999 and up models.
First go to RadioShack and get a pack of 2.2k Ohm 1/2 watt resistors, they come in a 5 pack for a dollar.

Then take out your passenger side dash speaker cover by removing the two screws holding it in.

There is a plug that goes into the light sensor, disconnect that.

Take out a resistor and bend it into a U-shape, then put it into the plug.

Tape it up so the resistor stays secure in the plug.

Tuck the resistor into the hole to get it out of the way.

After that re-install the speaker cover and tada, no more auto headlights

Lol wtg man & enjoy... & TY for searching 1st!
really sorry to revive an old thread like this.... BUTTTT! for the people that don't wanna pull the speaker panel off or only wanna turn the lights off momentarily.... all u gotta do is push the ebrake down one click before turning the truck on and it'll cut em off until u release it. disables drls too. only problems one may encounter is having to deal with the park light for a lil while, and depending on how tight ur ebrake cable is, ur brakes may grab a lil until you release it....
