i installed an after market keyless entry in my 97 blazer myself.. the whole package was $30 at pep boys and it worked great... just putting out another affordable option if your blazer doesnt have it built in

Bringing up a old thread I know. But as I have my dash out I'm trying to locate the wiring for the OEM RKE. I can't find it but found this on the internet:" also found out that the wiring is already there because it replaces another module called the dimmer module. The module it replaces is Part #15150325."

Any truth to this? Where the RKE should be I got the light dimmer installed, maybe thats why I'm not finding any wiring for the RKE.

well thanks for "bumping" this thread Denominator, i missed this the first time around.

and now i know what that little black box is under there (and the same box i removed from a truck i stripped last year). just need to sort through my many GM keyless remotes that i have, 'cause i'm pretty sure i have 2 or 3 of them for Chevy trucks.

The RKE module is a small black box located on the hush panel above your feet on the DS, close to the kick panel. It has one ot two wires going to it. Very easy to find.

I've never heard anything about a dimmer. My truck didn't come with RKE from the factory, but still had the RKE module in the correct place.

I got a dimmer module that are bolted to the hush panel just above the DLC. This dimmer module is a black box with 5 wires going to it. This box controlles the cabin lights, keeps it on for 15 seconds after you close the door and so on. If the quote above is correct, I should remove this box and replace it with the RKE module.

Anyone got some close up pics of the box and wires for a 1995 blazer s10?

I have a friend that is a Gm tech and he doesn't know how to "toggels the BCM to recongize that the RKE module is now installed". All the rest of the techs in the shop keep telling him to tell me that I need a new BCM to make my 99 Blazer recognize the RKE module which is hogwash. Do you know which screens and/or options he used to do this? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for posting this up on here.

i do not know the screens as i went there and the tech it talked to had done it multiple times before. I guess the gm techs do not know what they are doing because my 99 blazer went from stock no keyless entry to stock keyless. YOU DO NOT NEED A NEW BCM thats just retarded. take it 2 a dif gm dealer and see if they know... like i said they just have to enable the keyless entry module, only thing i can think of is maybe it wasn't installed or te rke is damaged not 100 percent sure though. Also if any 1 need a module i have a extra one for sale look in the classifieds.

It has all the power lock stuff installed and I know the BCM is fine. So I guess I just have to find someone who has done it before. Thanks for the input.

Well I had got a new BCM in case anything goes wrong. They checked the GM techline at the dealership and the 1998 S10 Blazers Cannot get a VCI "ticket" to add keyless. And they didn't know how to toggle it without the VCI either. Also I had gotten a new GM keyless entry unit off ebay that is the part number listed on here but has an FCC ID of: KOBUT1XR. I can't find but one entry on google in a search that find a remote with a matching FCC ID of KOBUT1XT. It give a part number for the remote of 10443537. None with this transmitter code can be found on ebay or any other keyless entry remote website. I have found the closest matching FCC ID for the GM remote number have an FCC ID of KOBLEAR1XT. I wonder if this FCC ID replaced my FCC ID of KOBUT1XT or do I need to search a little harder? Thanks.
