You guys have inspired me.... Yesss im going to do this mod. I am headed out to the salvage yard this friday and have a few questions.

They are making me pull it myself....

What tools should I bring? (size sockets etc)

What is a fair price for one of these things?

 

I thought I'd report back since it's been nearly a year since I installed mine. No signs of body warping yet and I've never had the latch come undone (which I was initially nervous about).

The six larger bolts on the corner near the taillight need a T50 torx bit and the six bolts that hold the striker plate onto the tailgate need a T30 bit. I would also bring penetrating lubricant and a long wrench/breaker bar if you can. A couple of the bolts on the carrier I got were rusted badly and took a lot of work to remove.

I paid $25 but from reading through this thread, I'd say the average price is around $50-75ish...

No. I emailed him...it is a small baggie with the bolts/mounting hardware...I might get this one..but I am not paying 150 for it.... I may offer him $100..


And WISCO...if ur pulling it yourself...I wouldn't pay more than $80... Good luck...keep us updated

 

Dont worry me and a buddy will be doing it friday and pics should be up then. As long as we can figure out a way to trim that striker plate.
