are you talking about adding a regular car battery as your secondary?

have you looked into doing the big 3 upgrade? a high output alternator? a larger under hood battery?

if yes to all those and still having issues, get a sealed agm battery for the back because they don't need to vent, they can be mounted any way except upside down and have more reserve than a regular acid filled battery than can spill inside your nice truck

the only reason i ask is because i had a JL 1000/1, 300/4 and 300/2 in my truck before i sold it with the big 3, 145 amp alternator and an upgraded under hood battery and never had voltage drop lower than 13.6 when sitting at idle with the brakes and headlights on.

good luck
