Default 2012 Silverado Radio into 2004 Blazer

I was recently given the stock radio from a 2012 Silverado. After removing my dash and radio, I have found the 2012 radio is slightly longer and thicker. However I think this can all be remedied with a little fabrication. The wiring harness has a much different plug, and I do not have the harness for the 2012 radio.

The question that I do have is has anyone done this before?
Have any idea what adapter/s will be helpful to me?

I won't be making any cuts until I know I can wire the darn thing up the correct way. (OK any way that will make it work)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Why? I would think it would be far easier to get something aftermarket.

I agree with Thogert, it's not EVEN close to worth the time and effort to build a harness to wire that thing with.

The only good way to do it would be to grab a wiring adapter for an aftermarket unit for your truck and then cut the harness out of the '12 truck. With a wiring diagram you could make all the right connections and it MIGHT work if there's no factory anti-theft in the unit looking for the original vehicles PCM/BCM.

Not worth the time, money or effort in my opinion.

Well shoot. I guess I was just excited about the it being gifted to me. I never even thought of the anti-theft problems.

Thanks for the insight.
