Default Advice needed

Hey all! I'm back from Lloydminster, finally! did 47 days straight at the oil refinery. would have stopped in to say hi but I was too darn busy [&:]

well anywho, im ready to order a new amp for my 2 12's. Originally I was gonna go with the 1606, but im a little concerned about my subs taking that kinda power.....anyone have experience with 500+ watts on the older type r's?

I guess im just looking for a little reassurance [8D]

or anyone have an amp around the same price range and similar wattage? Unfortunatly I have to do a money order cuz mastercard is being a jerk lol.

recommendations and opinions needed. I dont really want to spend a whole lot on this but im looking for 1000+rms.....the Alpine just dosent cut it for me anymore but I cant really imagine these subs getting any louder.....but im sure I'll be proved otherwise.

I would say they will be fine. The 1606 is over-rated anyways, probably 1200 or so RMS, maybe a little more, a little less. there is a guy on ROE selling an elemental designs nine.1 for $300 I think.

I really think you will be ok though.

I had 2 first gen 12" r's single 4's running off an mrdm1000, so about 500 watts each. Not a problem. Well eventually it was just not loud enough anymore. That's what got me into trouble.

alright, well now im getting power hungry, now that hillbilly said im only gonna get around 1200 or so watts outta the 1606, im considering the 2006....its about $100 more....but claims 2000rms@ 1ohm. but is it really worth the extra 100?

plan would be run it on these R's @ 2ohm till I order the new type r's which are a heck of a deal i cant pass up........then drop er down to 1.
I'm hoping the 2006 is fairly effiecent cuz I dont plan on getting a HO alt anytime soon.....my current stock alt is still under a year warranty, so if she does fry.....oh well

alright....well now i have a chance to get a sundown 1500d for $300

or go with a lanzar opti 2000d new for like 369

or a hifonics bx2006 for like 350

OR a E.D nine.1 for like 365

all are pretty decent deal, especially the sundown which retails for something like 700 but i really want over 1500rms for under 400 bucks

Well I got one coming directly from sundown for $345 shipped US (About $380 Canadina woohoo ). It's used but comes with a 1 year warranty. It's scratched, but I am powder coating it anyways. Thats why I got it for what I did.
