Amp, "big 3", and battery questions....

Let me go ahead and preface this post with the fact that I know absolutely jack **** about car audio. I know how to do the grunt work (actually making connections and running cable and such) but I don't know much about brands, ohm ratings, parallel vs. serial, etc., etc. So, obviously I have few questions.
First, my girlfriend wanted some subs for Christmas so I got 2 12" Kicker CVR Comp-VR's. I found themas package deal that came with an amp....which brings me to my first question: I know nothing about amps and was wondering if I ended up with a piece of crap.
These are the stats:
MAX Power
2000W
RMS @ 4 Ohm
600W
RMS @ 2 Ohm
750W
RMS @ 1 Ohm
/
Mono Power
1500W
T.H.D.
0.02%
S/N Ratio
98dB
Frequency Response ±1dB
10Hz-30KHz
HPF/LPF
50Hz-250Hz
Fuse
25Ax2
From what I got from this thread is seems like the T.H.D. and sound/noise ratio are pretty good....but again, I really have never heard of this brand and was curious as to whether or not it's good (and I won't be offended if you tell me it sucks I'll just feel like an ***
).
On a more serious note, since the install her battery has been getting ravaged. After 12 hours of reading the audio forums I realize that I'm going to spend Sunday upgrading the big 3. I was also wondering if the ground from the amp to chassis could be causing the problem though. I had a friend help me hook up the system (since again, I know nothing about them) and while we used 0 guage from the battery to the amp...he said it would be fine to use 4 or 8 (I don't remember which) to ground the amp...I just saw in another post that it should be the same guage as the power cable...so could this be contributing to the battery problem?
Thanks in advance guys

yes power and grounds usually are the same size....not sure if it would actually effect your battery.....but generally the thicker the wire the more effeciently it will run. I would definatly ground it in 1/0awg.
and you listed specs for the amp but how about a link or product #? and im assuming the subs have single 4 ohm coils? if thats true you can hook that amp up at 2 ohms getting the "750"rms. rockford fosgates website has a great wiring diagram for subs if you need it....

The subs ca be hooked up as either 2 or 4 Ohm...and yes, they are dual voice coil. If I followed the wiring diagram that came with the subs correctly then they are wired up at 2 Ohms.
As for a link....there in lies the problem: I don't think the company has a website (which is part of the reason I'm thinking it's probably not all that great). They closest I can get is 7 Elephantsthe company that distibutes them. Like I said, if anyone know anything about them I'd be grateful for a review. I mean they seem to do the job...although, maybe a little underpowered for the Kickers.
Anything else I should be considering as far as the battery trouble goes?

do you multiply it by 12? if my memory serves me right......that'll be 50x12=600
but anyway, do the big three, theres threads everywhere, and itll be fine. and i would use 1/0, overkill is your friend.

600 watts would be 100% efficiency.
normally its about 70-80% even at 80% thats '480w'
it probably puts out 350-400w RMS,

Ok....so I upgraded the big three and gave it a few days to see if it helped...and at first, it did. It's been drivenaround all week and I haven't had any trouble with it not starting nor have I had any drop in voltage with the sub hits...but then I realized that since the upgrade the stereo has been run rather conservativley. So tonight I borrowed the truck and ran the subs as hard as I could - and sure enough the voltage dropped from roughly 14 (I'm just guaging this by the crappy in-dash stock voltage meter) to 9 with the biggest hits. Just to test it I turned the truck off and tried to restart it and it felt like it wasn't gonna for a second. Any more suggestions?
BTW - the started, alternator, and battery have all been tested and were all reported to be good.

what is your gain setting....did you set that properly? also make sure all the bass controls etc. arent jacked all the way up on your headunit. you may want to think of adding an additional battery for added help

I'll have to check the head unit....I didn't even think about the bass on that. Yeah, if it comes down to it I'll have to add another battery or HO alt....I was just trying to avoid the extra cost if possible.
