Audio/Video Electronics Wired up? If you have some sort of A/V modification let's hear about it here. Discussion of stock electrical problems should be done in the 'Lighting & Electrical' section.

Default Another speaker question from a noob

the stock speakers in my blazer (2001, 2 door) are just fine but the speaker in the driver door doesn't really work that well is the bass is turned pass the half way mark (on the factory head unit). It's not a huge deal but it's would nice to have it fixed.

What speaker brands should I avoid?
Since I'm a noob, how hard is it to replace the speaker?
Are there speaker that would fit under the factory covers? (those factory plastic grill things)
Are there speakers in my dash? I've always wondered about that.
What kinda tools do you need?
Do you have to take the door panels off to replace them?

If you have any other advice for me I'd appreciate it very much

I can only answer some of your questions...but here goes..

Since I'm a noob, how hard is it to replace the speaker?
Simple..its just a wire going into the back you unplug from the old one and plug into the new one...

Are there speaker that would fit under the factory covers? (those factory plastic grill things)
6.5" is the stock size.

Are there speakers in my dash? I've always wondered about that.
Yes, there are. I think the stock size is 4x6?...not entirely sure on that one though.

What kinda tools do you need?

Should only need a screwdriver...

Do you have to take the door panels of to replace them?
Yes, you do. they are in behind the panels which is all one piece. The door panels just pop off (there is 1 screw behind the door handle you need to take out first). Note that when you take the door panel off, you might want to pick up some extra "xmas tree" clips that hold the panel on. In typical GM fashion they are extremely cheap plastic and tend to break/wear. And you can be just about guaranteed your door panels will rattle after you take the panels off if they don't already.

to add to sisk i not 100% but you may also need a small socket for a single bolt you'll find under a small access panel in the door grab. For the dash they make 4x6 plates from infinity i havent heard many complaints on them but def ask around (just did some hunting n they are coming up discontinued but u may be able to find them on like ebay)

I don't think I'd replace the in-dash speakers. What size are they? I know the door speakers are 6.5" and the rears (2 door) are 6" x 9"

Pioneer makes 4X6 Plates as well. They sound great especially with the right high pass filter.

I just replaced all mine with boss speakers.
The front is 4x6
the doors are 6.5
and the back is 6x9

As for replacing the covers, mine fit under the covers just fine. So you dont need to replace its just a preference thing.

But for brands I love my boss speackers and i got them all shipped to me in Florida for like $90 total. Cheapest prices I found were at http://www.sonicelectronix.com/
and
http://www.millionbuy.com/
but sonic you can go on and look at speakers and get reviews.

As for putting them in, Its simple. just make sure you dont use to much force when taking things off. All i used was a screw driver, a nut driver, your gunna need something to connect your wires (The wires from the head unit to the new wires on your speaker), and just a note if you replace the back speakers all you need to do is remove the handel and the little clip on the top, the rest of it just pops off. but if you need more help just pm me
