Default I'm thinking about it.

I figure if I find a tablet that has gps, and an fm tuner, it has everything I would want in a head unit, I would just need to hook it up to a small amp. I thought I would replace the stock stereo w/ a piece of plexi or diamond plate, and atach a mounting bracket to it and run power and a 3.5mm jack to rca adapter through it. If I get the right amp, I could even hide it in the dash. any thoughts?

Its not really a tablet install, but I didn't want a permanent install. I used magnets to hold the tablet on.

A magnet is a good idea, do you think a good strong one would effect the electronics?

Default Blue tooth obd II

I just found a bluetooth obd II module that would easily turn a tablet into a digital dash, plus a scan tool. I might order it anyway, so I can have a scan tool.

I have the Bluetooth obd2 scanner with torque and like it a lot.

As far as the magnet it should not damage the electronics because it is all solid state and not a hard drive. The only thing to watch it for is if your tablet has the option to turn in automatically with a smart case. I put a piece of metal in between of the tablet and inside the case just for some protection for the automatic turn on with the screen.
