Box carpet or covering

Box carpet or covering
This is really just a general question. After seeing many pics online and at car shows, is it just me or is covering the wood of boxes a lost art? Everywhere i go, all i see is MDF and glue. Cant we paint, carpet, cover our boxes?

I think now, people would rather spend the extra $15 on bigger speakers than carpet and glue. . Not many people care about looks now, they just want it loud. I personally have carpeted and will continue ot carpet everything I build. . I just like the nice, uniform look. .

The main reason is because we all plan on changing it very soon so why spend the extra cash.
Thats the only reason I'm still rockin the MDF and glue. Surprisingly I was told I got more points at a local car show due to that. he said It shows your fabrication skills and is a definate plus.
I was like eh ok woot one more point for me lol

why change it out so fast? why not just do what you want in the first place and save money in the long run?

Because its all about building up. seeing what you hit. then making it better. Like my design isnt great at all. Thats why 'm tearing down soon

the purpose in not carpeting is to be able to tune ur system, and rebuild if necessary. Im already looking into the future of my stereo even before i have anything built
