1 farad can handle 1000 watts RMS, 2 can handle 2000 RMS...etc. this might help in picking one out, you may not need 3 or 5 farads

Caps are worthless.
I have a digital 1 farad cap too. It came witha resistor. THe instructions say to ground the cap and install the resistor between the +12V power and the + terminal. Wait a few minutes until the voltmeter on the cap reaches so many volts.
I think it said that to slowly charge the cap. Also, the instructions said to keep the resistor. If your going to store the cap for extended periods, discharge it with the resistor. I taped it to the instructions and filed it away.
I notice my lights not dimming when the bass is heavy. I installed a new stock alternator about the same time.
Get another battery and an isolator too.
I've read in Car Audio (ad) Rockford has a 100 farad cap, I have no idea on the price. It can't be cheap.

Rockford has that rediculous 20,000 watt amp too that has to be charged up a few minutes before playing it. They must have some kind of capacitor system built into it.

My voltmeter reads much more consistent with a capacitor. My alternator was working overtime before. Now it just sits right around 14. Bass quality seems a little bit better too.
