cd player not playing

howdy all. just bought an 03 blazer yesterday and when i got it home to try out cd player, all it does is says check CD. i tried several CD's known to play in my other vehicles. Has anyone else had this problem and can offer any suggestions, or is the player shot. Rest of radio really rocks. thnx

stock cd players have that anti-theft device.........could be that......hillbilly will know.....

my guess is that the lens(laser) is shot. prob cost you more to repair it then to replace it, sorry for the bad news.

Check CD will have nothing to do the the Theft lock being activated.

that was my initial thought. was just hoping someone had same problem and knew of quick fix. had new battery put in at dealer and was wondering if some sort of reset or code had to be re-entered.

You may be able to try one of the CD lense cleaners available pretty much anywhere... Would be a cheaper alternative.

Is this with burnt CD's or store cd's? Some CD players don't like the 80 minute discs because they don't strictly follow the redbook standard (audio cd)

Then yeah, your player is most likely borked, if the lens cleaner doesn't fix it...
