Audio/Video Electronics Wired up? If you have some sort of A/V modification let's hear about it here. Discussion of stock electrical problems should be done in the 'Lighting & Electrical' section.

Exclamation A couple of questions..

I have a 1998 Blazer, LT, 4door, 4wd.. Couple of questions here..

First of all, I've heard mixed reviews of the speaker sizing in the rear doors.. is it 5 1/4 or 6 1/2? I took off the door panel and they looked a bit smaller than 6 1/2 but I didn't measure or anything..

Secondly, a question regarding the speakers themselves..

I recently replaced my two front door speakers and my Head Unit.. When doing this, I found out that my rear and dash speakers weren't working - even before replacing everything up front. The 4 doors look like they are wired in series (connected as rear speakers in the wiring harness), and there are tweeters in the dash (connected as front speakers in the wiring harness). The rear speakers and the tweeters do not work at all. Is it because they are just blown? I'm not sure of a decent speaker test to tell if this is the issue or not, I'd like to make sure it isn't a faulty connection instead before buying some new ones..

Thanks!

I replaced all 4 door speakers with 6 1/2" pioneers from wal-mart... my dash tweeters haven't worked since I've owned the blazer but it sounds just fine to me.
Just replace your rear door speakers but you may wanna test the wiring with a known working speaker first.

Well I took out the rear speakers today and they look like they are 5 1/4" instead of 6 1/2.. ordered some new dash speakers and rear speakers today, tested the speakers on a different audio source and I got nothing out of them so problem solved I think, I'll post back when I put them in.. thanks

Well, everything worked when I put the new speakers in.. the wiring is definitely strange though.. Front Left, Rear Left and Rear Right are all using the same wires (Yellow + Brown) while the 2 dash speakers and the Front Right speaker have their own dedicated wires..

The 5 1/4 that I put in the rear were significantly smaller than I thought they would be, seems like they are supposed to be 6" speakers, not 5 1/4" or even 6 1/2".. hmm.. I made them fit though so it doesn't matter too much..
