Default Custom 8" box in the right rear cargo area

Will be starting my new speaker box project soon. Right now I have a pair of Kicker CVR 12's in a huge ported box behind the back seat, and A) it just takes up too much room... and B) I just don't listen to the same music I use to, I don't need the low frequency response that the setup gives me. So I'll be trading that out for just a single 8" loaded into a small sealed box placed in the rear cargo area between the wheel arch and the hatch.

The box I'll be using is an OEM sealed composite box from a Tahoe. It's small, pretty solid, and after hacking the original mounting tabs, it should fit into the space nicely. It's a pretty squared up box, so building onto it to blend it into the inner quarter should be pretty easy.

I've cut out some material from the inside of Blazers in a junk yard, so the end product is going to be an exact match, as far as the covering goes, so it should blend in nicely.

Speaker of choice is going to be a Skar VD-8D4 pushed by a Skar MSK-500.1. Should be good clean solid power, and won't require a hole of of juice.

Anyone else have any custom made enclosures molded into the right rear quarter?

I've seen a few, some turned out really nice, others shouldn't have been attempted, lol.

I'm not a big fan of your brand of choice, but to each his own. A single 8 just couldn't provide enough output for my tastes. I'm currently running a single 10 with a pair of matching passive radiators running on a 1500 watt amp that does gloriously well. Another problem with a single 8 is that by the time everything is said and done a 10 would just about fit in the same space, requiring about the same amount of work, give noticeably more output (when comparing apples to apples) and open the choice of suitable drivers open to a much larger scale. Just something to keep in mind if in the future you find yourself seeking more output.

I actually used the exact same box loaded with a JBL 8" in my father's 95 Sonoma single cab and sounds amazing well for what it is. For my taste in music, I think it'll be just fine, just something to add a little more down low where the door speakers lack.

Got the sub already About to be moving houses in the coming months (sooner if possible lol), so this little project is going on the back burner for the time being.
