Hi i am a volunteer firefighter and want to put in four-way flashers in my blazer, does anyone have a blazer with four-way flashers? if so what did u use and how did u install it.

 

All vehicles sold in the US have been equipped with hazard lights since......well...at least the early sixties. Your button is probably broken off it should be right in front of the steering wheel on the top left side of the column trim cover...if not you will need a multifunction switch OR you have an export Blazer.

Anyway, yeah, your truck should have a hazard switch on the top of the steering column that will activate the 4-way signals...

But is that what you wanted to know or are you talking about something different? Strobes in the head/tail lights possibly?

 

No not the Hazard Lights. Four-Way flashers are the flashers in headlights(i.e. police cars). does anyone have those in their blazer? if so can u tell me what u used and how u installed it.

 

You must mean strobe lights.... This is what you want. They usually get pretty expensive on eBay. They are sick though. This auction isn't bad either.

 

Yeah, you want emergency strobes. Check out Galls.com and see what they have, then search the internet for a cheaper price. Galls.com has good stuff for sure, but it's expensive as all hell.

I just purchased a Whelen Dual Talon and I love it! Works awesome and I can transfer it between my two vehicles easily. I'm planning on hard wiring them this weekend if I can gather all of the components I need.

 

The headlight flashers are called Wig-Wags. And when you stated 4 way flashers I thought you meant the hazards also that is why I did not respond earlier 'cause Kyle, and Lastcoupe had it covered. Those wig-wags are pretty cool, I had a set in my last truck along with taill light flashers that flashed the stop and back up lights alt. People moved out of my way that is for sure. You will need to get the set that is for trucks with DRL, they are not too bad to install, but you will be cutting into your headlight wiring. And Galls sells them also. I need to get my blazer outfitted with a set of lights now!!!! I am just using a 5-0 dash light now, but it works. Korey

 

Come on Korey... Wig-Wags are the lights with the moving reflector; either dash mounted or bar mounted on the roof! I'm betting the lights he's lookin' for are strobes that will be installed into the headlamp & taillamp housings. These can flash VERY fast.

You can also get flashers for the head and taillights, but that puts a lot of abuse on the bulbs to be turning them on and off fast like that. Not to mention that if the FPS is high enough, it won't really even flash.. Being filiment bulbs, they don't have a very fast on-off time.

Like I said earlier, I really like my Whelen Dual Talon! This thing moves traffic and uses milliAmps of power instead of Amps like strobes, wig-wags, or head/tail light flashers. I forgot to turn it off yesterday mornin' for our structure fire that we had and 3 hours later, the truck started up without missing a beat.

since you're a firefighter, do you have a traffic signal changer? You know, the little device you can use to change the traffic lights? I wanna buy one but these are the prerequisites to buying them and I don't fit in with any of them.... I'm thinking of becoming a volunteer ff so I can get one....
1. Fire Departments (Paid or Volunteer) and their authorized members.
2. Police Departments and their authorized officers.
3. Licensed EMS Services
4. Search & Rescue Teams (with proper authorization) and their members
5. Volunteer 1st Responders (with proper authorization)
6. Federal, State and City Authorities
7. HazMat Personnel (with proper authorization)
8. Military Escorts (with proper authorization)
9. Funeral Home Processions (with written authorization from local police or sheriffs department)

 

I don't come across signals in my district... LOL

But I wouldn't want one. Do you realize the liability you automatically accept when you have one of those and the legal hellfire that will decend upon you if an accident is ever caused by its use...
