Default Help with building a box

I want to build a box for a couple of 12's. I would like it to be ported, but I don't know what kind of wood to start with and the demensions and how to carpet it at the end so it all looks clean. I know to gorilla glue it and then screw it with predrilled holes. How do I make the ports? Thanks

Ports the sensitive thing.

Get a program called Bass Box Pro 6

you can also use WinISD

or this: http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/...&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0

^set that up for ur subs specs and all.

Use 3/4" MDF unless ur going with HARDCORE bass. then double up 2 layers of 3/4"

Ok that keeps crashing me so I cant.

Um Ports can be done a few ways it depends on what u want. I have a slot port which is basically the length of the box.

Some people use AeroPorts but they're a sensitive port. not good for a beginner.

You can do a like boxlike port on the top. You can have a port goin from the top to bottom on each side or the center. but the center one is for chambered subs I believe

Slot Port

Thanks. But one more question, what are the advantages of using a ported box versus a closed box?

Sealed will give you: Cleaner Bass Hits, Low notes, Sound Quality

Ported will Give: Higher Numbers on the Meter, more Air Movement, Alot Louder
