Default How To Disconnect/Disable Some Things??

Im an old guy. I just got my newest veHickle ever. A 1999 4x4, GMC Jimmy SLT. Man! That thing has a whole buncha push buttons!!
The headlight switch doesn't even do anything? I would like to have manual control over my headlights, parking lights and those little oval lights that are in with the parking lights. Is that possible?
I think ithas a passenger side air bag, if it does I want to disable that too. I have a dog, a small dog and i don't want the air bag going off and killing him.
How to disable these things without negative affect on other things?

Default RE: How To Disconnect/Disable Some Things??

Get out a wiring schematic and start hacking. Seriously. The headlights are controlled through the BCM (body control module). You can disable the DRLs (daytime running lights - search and you will find). The rest will require rewiring the circuits.

As far as the air bag, be careful. If you disconnect it, your airbag light will likely be on. Why not just put the dog in the back?
