I don't know much about car audio technology, but I do like good sound.
I recently had one of my Blazers broken into and the cd receiver was stolen. I am insured for a couple of hundred bucks but I was thinking of upgrading, so I'm looking for your opinions. I have 4" dash speakers, 6"x10"s in the back, a 200W amp and a 12" sub. Here's what I'm looking at

seems like alotta dough for a sony deck, do you plan on using the bluetooth?

I suggest this deck, full color display, with bluetooth(says optional)
5 volt preouts........they also have a non-bluetooth kinda like this one for 309........

 

ok chevy....looks like no one wants to comment bout the sony deck.......for that kinda dough you can get a really nice eclipse too....but i still think that pioneer is the best for the cash...that i can find......when mine takes a poo, im going with that deck.....

Hey there CL, i would agree that Sony does not put out quality product, and you would be happy with clean sound from a Pioneer, Eclipse or Alpine deck costing half of that.

Infinity makes some great speakers, Clicky for speakers.

and not sure on sub and amp combo, let me work on that today. Ill get back to ya

 

Thanks for your replies. I thought Sony was pretty good, I liked my last one, but I have no brand loyalty so I'm open to suggestions.

 

with SOny products, you are just paying that much for them name, the only products that sony is good at is TV's and laptops. Eclipse, Alpine, Pioneer, JVC all make solid decks.

 

kenwood is a good choice too. but again im loyal to their hu's

 

kenwood does make nice HU's but their menus suck, and I sell them and install them.!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had two different alpine cd players and have liked both of them. I had the 9825 and now the 9853. Its already been said but pioneer is a really good brand for the money. But if you just want a good radio for the really cheap you can get a clarion off ebay for around 100 bucks brand new. They have the cd/mp3/wma with ipod ready and satelite radio ready. My friend bought one just to run some speakers for a basic system and it does a good job. Heres one to check out
