Default install today....

well i got my subs and amp installed today and was wondering if you guys can help me get it sounding a little better. subs are 2 300rms alpine type r 12's dual 2 ohm, and the amp is the alpine mrd-m501 in a big sealed box, not sure on the size. does anyone know how i should set the amp?

currently the deck has to have the "loud" setting turned off which make the speakers, type s 6.5 and the rest stock, sound really cold, or un-warm if you will. if the loud is even set at low the bass totally takes over. JL tr650-csi's are in the mail on there way to me, these seperates have no crossover or whats called "natural roll-off" or something, any comments on that?

also about every panel in my truck shakes any way to stop this, or is damping the only way?

Alot has to do with the design. You know, poor fit and finnish. Everyones' interior will shake, rattle, squeak at some point in time. Esp you guys who have these systems where your're heard for 1 minute before you're seen. [sm=smiley2.gif]

IMO, don't use the loudness or "distortion boost" feature on the head unit. Use the low pass boost on the amp if you have one.
I have a 45db? boost set "on," and my gains for the subs around at +50% The Rockfords amps I use are ok for it.
It's up to you to set it up. Cause you're the one who's going to use it.

Bet you can't wait to get your set up. Sounds like you have nice equipment.

my speakers sound like trash without the loudness on, guess itll have to wait till the JL's and an amp [>:]

i bought these subs back in 05 and were sitting in my closet for a good 8 months, but ya these dont have the hamr surround, id need 2 of my amps to power the 05's.

i think i need to go ported to get the full potential outta my system.

any comments on the crossoverless comps i got? should come in the mail in the next 5 days or so

ya there 300 rms 1000 peak, prolly take 500 daily without problems
