I also have the 96'. Didn't bother to change out my dash speakers because I don't know how much of a difference they really make, but I noticed my leg blocks out most of the sound on my driver's side door, so I figured if I upgraded the dash speakers maybe it would add more sound to the front.

ORIGINAL: fade2black2004

traded my merlin 30-30 for a Matrxx xx1000.1 amp and Solo Baric l5 12" kicker
was this a good deal? (neer really used the gun)

i want a nice sound system for my first truck but im a noob when it comes to amps and what not

thanks in advanced
Have you upgraded the door speakers yet? I've been using just my Polk 6 1/2" door speakers for about 2 months now, and I'm definitely satisfied, the only problem is without the subs it's hard to get a good punch and quality at the same time. Once it hits hard you can't hear anything but vibrations. I just bought 2 12" Alpine Type R 07's, but I still have to get the amp.

Sound like you need some bass blockers or a deck with a high-pass filter...

ya i replaced my speakers on my 94 4 door and ya its 4x6 in the dash and 6.5 in the rear doors. i put in just some pioneers cuz they were cheap but still sound good. only problem i had was since they were the 3-way speakers the magnet is bigger and the dash speaker on the driver side needed some extra help at getting in cuz of the gauge area going so far back. these blazers are really packed i found this out when putting in my Alpine head unit and it needed some extra help to get in all the way. kicker subs are really good friend of mine had those exact ones in his GTP and they sounded really good. never heard of the amp tho so cant help u there. i put in my whole system (Alpine head unit, all 4 speakers pioneer 3-way, 2-12" Infinity subs at 1200rms running on a Rockford Fosgate 900 amp) and its not that hard if you know a lil bit about wiring.

well if your looking for a good sounding cheaper speaker i would recommend the pioneer 3-ways. thats what i have and they are pretty good. i havent personally heard the sony xplosions but from what my friends tell me they arent all that good. and ya when u install the dash driver side speaker u have to kinda wedge it in there cuz the magnet is a lil too big for the space u have to work with which is common all over among the blazers.

Sony, Pioneer, Kicker...IMHO I think all of those companies make junk mids and highs. Kicker is a little better than Pioneer and Sony, but still nothing i would slap in my cars. Infinity and Polk seem to be the best sounding speakers you can find at a major retailer. However, if you are after the best sound, look into Hertz, Focal, Morel,or Rainbow...
