Default My alpine decided to stop working..

Ok so I was driving a long the other day listening to music and then my music just stopped. The head unit seemingly still playing the music with no sound. I checked all of the amp fuses throughly, all of them were fine. Checked the remote wire that was fine. The amps power up without any sound. I checked the rca's as well and the amps will play directly from my ipod if I hook my ipod to them. The head unit powers on and does everything it should do other than put out sound. Is this a common problem with headunits that the pre outs stop working? I'm starting to lean towards keeping my stock radio in and upgrading the stock one. I like the looks of the stock unit in my dash... I just want to know why a head unit would just stop working? I didn't hit a bump and the music wasn't incredibly loud either.

well I like the look of my stock radio in there again, I think I'm going to go this route instead of getting a new head unit. have any of you guys had experience with either of these?

I've heard of them but never seen them used before... At the price you would pay for those two items you could get a pretty sick deck... It's just is the look of the stock stereo worth that much to you?

Everyone's different but in my opinion I'd just get a new deck.

well if I were to get a new deck I'd want a double din and that is way out of my price range now. plus Those things on ebay are much cheaper. The ipod control is $110 and the mtx is 89. $200 and under units tend to suck... I'm picky about my units I hate front inputs usb, aux, ect. almost all the units under $200 have front inputs, other than alpine which my unit is and I'm not sure if I want to get another one of those now.

Actually if I had to pick the ideal radio I'd go for either this

or

I just ordered my head unit for like 160 and it has all the bells and whistles that I need.

JVC Arsenal KD-AHD69...

but it has the front inputs that you dont like... hmmm lol. I mean I say go for the stock look if you really want and let us know how it goes.

I'm going to give it a try see how it works. I'm interested to see how the ipod control works. I didn't like the ipod control that much on my alpine

before you go and spend money on everything have you checked your RCAs? before i reran everything this summer i had a set get crimped and stop working completely because they got severed.

what i'm saying i guess is get another set of RCAs, plug them into the headunit, then run those to the amp and see what happens.

I did that with my ipod. and all of the speakers + sub worked when I switched from each channel. and plus I doubt all of my rca's would get split at once since my sub rca's run on the opposite side of my truck than the 4 channel
