Default Need Alternator Help!!!

Ok so i'm running a 3000 watt system right now. I need to update my alternator, i just need to know what size i should get. Would a 220 amp alt be able to power my system, lights, and ac? right now the alt i have doesn't even have enough power to power my lights and ac. PLlease help i need a new one fast. Thanks

Are your amps putting out 3000 rms? what lights are you talking about? your stock lights? or do you have aftermarket lights? What battery are you using? and have you upgraded the battery to alternator, battery to ground, block to ground cables?

upgrading wires is cheaper than a new alternator and helps to a certain point.

yes i did the big three (o gauge with both grounds and to alt), i have an upgraded battery i think 880 cold crank amps, i have stock lights with aftermarket fog lights(not always on) and no only about 1500 rms all together on the system.

I bought a 220 amp alternator from db electrical and so far so good. With the headlights on and the stereo cranked the volts drop a little @ idle but if it's above idle no problems at all. BTW my 2 amps added together are almost 2000 rms, and electric fans/foglights, etc.

Cool I think it'll work good for ya. BTW it's a little cheaper on ebay than it is on their website.

1000 watts with my system plus the roof lights and all the other crap I have wired up with my stock alternator and stock wires. I do have an optima battery and everything runs good. my lights only dim when I'm in gear and have my breaks engaged.

Sorry to bring this from the dead but was your sub cutting off since you need more voltage before upgrading to the 220 alternator. How's everything going now with this 220 amp alternator and im curious, where did you place the ground for your amplifier?? And which optima batter do you have?? Red top, yellow top?? THNX
