RE: Need help with sound deadeners??
Thats a good link. i need to deaden my truck asap. now i have a list of manufacturers. thinking of going with Fatmat.
|
how would you go about reducing the vibrations of the little black plastic filler panels on the upper rear corners of a second gen blazer, whenever my subs hit they vibrate like the trunk on a mexican's civic. would some sort of spray foam work?
|
im not exactly sure which panels you are talking about
|
'Mexican's Civic'? I'll choose to just dismiss this....
I think he's talking about what would be considered the 'D' pillar, or the plastic pieces that are to the immediate left and right of the rear glass. Mine rattle too, but it sounds like its coming from the inside, not the external plastic itself. |
Nice article. I have all the carpet and original sound deadening out of mine for "repairs" to the floors. I was just gonna get some cheapo matting I may need to rethink this now.

Mine rattle too, but it sounds like its coming from the inside, not the external plastic itself. i only hear the vibration when im standing outside of the car. but then again, in order for it to vibrate its gotta be rather loud in the car. i was told to stick matchbooks in the cracks to find otu where its vibrating against and then when i find it pop the panel and find some sorta foam and wedge it in there |
There is a vent inside each of those panels, when u remove the panel, you can see the vent. The flaps on the vent move and thats what makes the vibration. I tied a piece of rubber band around each flap and they don't vibrate anymore. Pretty easy fix.
|
thanks dude, ill give it a shot
|
that vent allows air to escape your vehicle when you close your doors. you dont wanna seal it off
|
I didn't seal it off, just tied a piece around each individual flap, making a buffer for when they rattle against each other.

i'm trying to find something that work well, but not be to thick. Dynamat fits this bill, but is waaaaaay to expensive (gonna cost me almost a grand just for the material). i've heard of some guys spraying the inside of their truck with that LineX and Rhino liner stuff, but anyone know if this will actual work? i have a friend who is a LineX dealer, but he's not sure about doing it (i think he's afraid of possibly screwing up my truck).
there was this company i found @ a Performance show awhile back, called CAE (can't remember what it breaks down to), but i can't seem to be a ble to Google anything on them (and i know they're still in business). any ideas ppl?:icon_shrug: |
did you check ebay for the dynamatt I bought a bulk kit for 50 bucks

i dunno if you have found anything yet but check out FatMat or Peel n' Seel (can get at home depot)

The worst noise I get it from the overhead compartment doors vibrating, I just let those doors hang down :P I left the factory deadener on most of the doors but one of mine is from a different car and had some crappy construction paper "deadener" but I put audiobarrier on and it's great. Only except in very specific levels of the window being open, it stopped all of the window vibration which was tough because the door panel and handle and everything had to be custom mounted to the old style door and the screws used seem to just slightly rub something in the window mechanism, at certain heights
