Default New installs

Well i just recently put in a clarion vrx765vd flip out, and got my 0awg amp kit and PG rsd's.

So anyway I just got off the phone with a local shop, figure id save myself the trouble of running wire and popping off door panels. they quoted 4-500 $!!!!!! because "o gauge is waay harder than 4 gauge to run" apparently, says they need to pull out seats, drill holes in the fire wall, yada yada.....i thought it was rediculous.....they dont even carry ANY hardware for 1/0 wire....like wtf......

so did everyone fit theirs in the rubber grommet ive yet to locate? and where did you run it? along the door frame? under the passenger seat?

also the biggest thing im afraid of is how to properly terminate the wire inside the ring connectors and such.....never done this before......he didnt even know how to upgrade batt/alt wiring....what a douche

i have two runs under my truck through the frame rails and drilled up into the rear. That does help ur cause much though lol. theres a grommet somewhere on the passenger side firewall. but you can always drill a whole and run it through. As far as terminating the wire ends, are you talking about crimping? if so, a big *** hammer or a vice works well for 1/0. thats what i used and have never had a problem

Yeah 1/0 is definitely too big to run under the door sill plates. If you want to run it inside, your best bet is down the center, which involves taking out the seats.

I think you're better off running it under the truck, along the frame rails. But you do have to make sure it's secured really well. You wouldn't want it to get caught on something.

He said through the frame rails, not along

I ran 1/0 in my old pontiac...it was harder..but not $4-500 hard..hahh. Sounds like Circuit City reasoning right there

well a bit of an update, figured id double post to bump it.

got the 0 gauge in but SASKATOON as a city, something around 100,000 people big, does not carry 0 gauge crimpable ring terminals. I called every shop, electrical store, surplus places, and the best i could find was 1 gauge copper solder type. I dont have a soldering gun, flux, or anything so i just crimped them on and taped the hell outta it :P.

I did 3 connections like this, not all, and i only had to trim the wire a tiny bit, for the fuse, and connection to the battery.

future shop did not have 0 gauge ring terminals, so they didnt want to take liability for a possible fire or something, due to the "heat build up" from using smaller terminals, so i did that part myself.

to crimp them i used my channel locks to start, then vice grips, seemed ok.....

on another note I picked up a used concept cc752, 75x2 rms at 4 ohm. 125@2, and i think 350 bridged 4 ohm. traded it for an xbox game to my friend haha.

I have it running my PG rsd's and im pretty happy with them. the symbols when listning to metal are GREAT! sound like they should with no harshness, i love it. still alot of tweaking to do, gotta turn my low pass up and high pass down still......fair bit of distortion on hip hop......anyway thats my morning ramble....
