I have 3 sets of factory speakers in my Blazer. I believe that i have 4x6s in the dash, and 6.5s in the front doors and the rear next to the seats. Is this correct info??? Any tips on how to remove the front covers to access the dash speakers, or how to access the rears in a 2dr model. They are built into the plastic. Do I have to remove everything???

 

Also I did a search, but it appears that not everyone has the same speaker configurations. So i just wanted to clarify these answers before i made any purchases

 

to get at the dash speakers, I used a torx bit (small, dont remember number) with a 1/4" socket on top of it to loosen the screws up, and then did it by hand, came out fairly painless.

 

dash arent 4x6 the are 1 inch tweeters, but they look like 4x6s on the grill

 

So under that big grill is just a 1" tweeter??? Wow, that's crazy. So what is in the doors and rear panels then???

 

It is not just a 1" tweeter, its a tweeter in a 4x6 plate

You can take out the plate and throw a 4x6 in very easily.

edit: If it is still stock, doors are 6.5s, and rears are 6x9s.

Not all of them. There was different sound package options and some did come with the 4x6s in the dash. I do agree tho most do have tweeters there.

 

Just goin to have to take the grill off and check it out!!

 

my car came with a 4x6 set up in the front and i took my doors off the other day and there 6-1/2....the dash plates come off easy and the doors are held on by 3 screws and the rest are popper things
