Default Ok, time to order!

Ok I plan on ordering the following in the next week. But I have a question.

(2) Kicker CVX 12" subs 750 rms 4 ohm
(1) Hifonics 1606D AMP 1100 watts rms x 1 @ 2 ohms

I have been reading other forums and they say if you have dual 4 ohm subs wired together then you should go with a 1 ohm stable sub, yet you guys say 2? Whats up?

Also the more I look at the 12" CVX's, they are like 300 so I am kind of thinking about somthing different. What about 12" CVR's?

What do you guys this of this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3867.html
Do you think each sub is 600rms or the subs combined equal 600rms?

you could run them at 4 ohms but in order to get a good amount of power you need an amp that can run at 1ohm.

Well the Hifonics amp runs 1600 watts rms x 1ch @ 1 ohm but you guys said if I got (2) 4 ohm subs, then I need to get an amp that puts out at 2 ohms. By the way, I am running a mono amp when I buy one. What if I go with (2) 2 ohm subs?

you need to specify if you are getting subs that are dual 4 ohms, meaning two 4 owm voice coils per sub. If that is what you are getting, run them at 1 ohm. If you are geting single 4 ohm subs, then you can wire them to 2 ohms.

subs arnt stable at 1 ohm, they merely get wired at 1 ohm. Run 2 CVX's at 1 ohm on the hifonics and it will slam. So 2 dual 4 ohm subs. And those CVR's wont be nearly as loud as the CVX's.
The CVR's are 300 each, combined for a total power handling of 600rms.

CVX's will suit the 1606 much better......might as well use all the watts you paid for, right?

Ok, what if I buy this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3867.html
I then go with an amp that puts out a lot more amps then the subs are rated for. So I blow them the first day I hook them up. Can I go buy 12" cvx's and put them into the box, or will the subs require more space?

Basicly the reason I am asking all this is because I really like kickers sub box. I dont want to go with a plain jane sub box off ebay or somthing. Do you guys know where I can get boxes like kicker uses?

distortion/heat blows subs, not too much power. You can build a better box than that. Or get a shop to build it. If you went with CVR's you wouldnt need a power house like the 1606.

You could swap the cvrs, for the cvx's in the same box. typically for the best results you want a box specifically for a certain sub. Tuning may stay the same.....but the motor will take up more/less space and mess up the air space.

I ran some PPI C1's in the same box my R's are in, and more than doubled there power, they didnt "blow" but the glue on the surround deteriorated. both setsof subs sound(ed) great, but im sure it can be better
