Default oversized single din

i have been looking at these over sized single dins that have 7 inch screens and give the appearance of a double din which we all know will not fit in a blazer. i was wondering if anyone has used one of these or knows someone who has. and if you have any pics of one in a blazer that would be greatly appreciated. here are some links about what i am talking about if anyone doesnt know.

It seems like I read some where on here that when they flip out they will hit the shifter. If you do get one I would recommend a better brand like an alpine. It will cost a bit more but I guarantee it will last/

My Kenwood Excelon KVT-696 single-DIN flip-out will barely clear the transmission selector in my 95 Blazer when extended if it's set to its closest-to-the-dash setting. I can't extend or retract it, however, unless it's in D or further down.

I don't think u guys are understanding what this is it's not a flip out. It is a single din with a 7 inch screen on it it is oversized. The screen hangs down and it gives the appearance of a double din. The face plate is also detachable. Take a look at the links on my first post maybe those will help understand

Usually these are motorized and have to flip down to allow you to insert discs and usb connections onto the head unit (your car stereo receiver).

They fit into a 1.5 din space (with help of a harnessing kit you can buy from your local vatozone or preferred place to buy parts) but still may block access to your center air vents (situated above the radio unit) or your air control panel (situated below your radio unit).

As for your question, there are a few ppl on here who've done this, let me see if i can find them and if so I'll post them in this thread =)

and all those pictures show is the front of the stereo, cant see whats going on behind the screen. if the screen slides down its going to be in front of the heater controls. IMO go with a better well know brand that does a flip out screen, ive seen many of those cheap dvd screens crap about within a few weeks of installation.

heres a link to one with a pic of the side view. the screen doesnt slide down or move at all. it will only move if ur going to put a cd in. the screen is stationary. most of the screens are also removable which i think is nice to try to keep thieves away
