sundown saz-1500d-providing it dosent break on me again before this install

heres the dimensions i came up with

width-36"
height-18"
top depth-21"
bottom depth-21"
wood thickness-3/4"
port width-4.75"
port length 2-6.75"-should this be made longer? seems short to me....


puts me at 5 cubic feet before displacement with 78 square inches of port@33hz thats almost 16 square inches of port per cubic foot....is that too much? i read 10 or 12" is about right....

does anyone know the width of the cargo area?

i wanted to go with a big box 1st just to see how loud these can get. lots of questions lol anyone have suggestions?

well i went ahead and bought all the mdf, tools, glue terminal cup etc. and went ahead with 5cu. feet net at 33hz.

you can definatly tell this is my 1st build, i have glue allll over me lol.

I was going to try drop this in as is with factory battery, 4awg power/ground and an 80 amp agu fuse running the saz1500d at 1ohm.

question is will i just end up blowing my fuse even if i take it easy on it? am i at risk for damaging anything else? of course this will just be untill i get a kinetic and 1/0.....

 

 

not bad.....looks good for your first build. you dont really need that much glue. its betting to have more screws though. You also may want to consider (its not necessary though) putting some 45s in the corners or the inside of the box. helps with airflow and increase SPL.

you gonna cover it or leave it bare?

 

i was thinkin of doing the 45's with the left overs.....but all i have is a jig saw, so they may not be perfect 45's.......i tried wiping the glue with paper towel before it dried.....made it look like theres more than i really used....i can still sand er down a bit.

I read on caraudioclassifieds that it actually weakens the box the more screws you use.......i went every 5 or 6 inches....

im either gonna leave it bare, or just paint it......no carpet....

oh, and for next build, im definatly investing in some clamps!!!! would make things much easier, and also shorter screws......i was using 2 1/2"....

 

lol damn....def. dont need 2 1/2" screws haha maybe 1" at most. and yes...clamps are life savers. they make work so much easier. get this bad boy finished and get some videos up.

 

will an 80 amp fuse hold up to 1600 watts?
