Ok, I'm not a huge bass head, I can't stand the cars that pull up at a light and rattle like a bucket of bolts and drown out anything you are listening to. But I don't like how flat the stock system is in my 2000 four door. I have a buddy who manages a stereo shop and he's setting me up with a box, two 12's and a 500 watt amp that are all designed for each other. One of those preloaded package deals. My question is, Will 500 watts be enough to give me the bass I'm after but not be overly crazy?

 

Depends on a LOT, more watts does not necessarily mean louder...

 

Yes, 500 watts should be plenty, especially if you don't particularly like loud bass. As long as your subs and speakers don't call for a lotta watts. if so, your sound quality would just be lame.

 

The amp is a 1000w max but 500 watts rms. The subs are 1200 watts max and 600 watts rms combined.

 

You should be fine. Don't expect huge bass. It should be right around what you're looking for.

No problem. That's how I run it on my Ranchero, and my mom has the same setup as well.

 

What brand is the amp? Or even the model if you happen to know it?

 

i have 200 watts and cant hear myself think when i turn it up. Believe it not but back in my day 40 watts was enough

 

So your setup will be stock, other than the amp/sub combo? This will definitely bring the lower frequencies to life, but the mids and highs will still be dull and lifeless through the factory speakers. Are you still running the stock head unit? If so, which one do you have?
