Speakers in the hatch?

Speakers in the hatch?
I saw on someones post they had speakers in the hatch of their blazer, is this something that came stock after 97? I would really like to add this to my 97. Any help would be great.

No, this wasn't a stock option. I saw the post you are talking about but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I believe they either spliced into the door speaker wires, or ran new ones from the head unit all the way into the hatch. Then it was just a matter of cutting the holes and mounting the speakers.

You don't want speakers in the rear.
Anyone who adds them doesn't know about sound quality.
You have to worry about phase. There will be a delay on them.
Unless you are sitting in the cargo area, they are useless and just for show.
You'll notice that no SQ setups or classy setups have them, it's always the ricer-tier all show and no go setups that have any highs in the back.
tl;dr you sit in the front, put the speakers in the front. There is a reason they stock ones are placed where they are.

I don't think thats right I mounted 6x9's in the rear hatch
as for the delay time
well anyone that know's sound
If you don't here you go
Sound moves through the air at 1120 feet per second or fps.
so my 6x9's in the rear hatch are 10' from my ear
so the delay time is 9.0168 =milliseconds
and no human ear can tell that the sound is late
oh yea I do large line array sound systems for a living
so the delay effect on the last post is well you look at the #'s
the 6x9 install was ez just cut the holes and run the speaker wire throuch the plastic tubing that the rear defrost wires run through
PM me for pictures of the install
ohhh..... yea pop the hatch and rock your next tailgate party

There is a reason people care so much about 10ms monitors vs 5ms and 2ms, etc...

if you can hear 9.0168 =milliseconds
you must have super human powers
not wanting to start a ongoing thread war I just wanted to put the facts
you build your system your way and I will build them the way I like them
just stating the raw FACT'S:icon_deadhors e:

I was talked out of putting tweeters and mids in all 4 pillars (hatch, behind rear seats, between rear and front seats)
So I'm pretty sure it's not a good idea.
not that you will hear the hatch speakers with the front speakers playing anyway...but if you have them level matched, you will probably notice the difference
I can't even hear the rear door components with the fronts at the same gain.
