Default Steering wheel audio controls

Just bought my 03 blazer which comes stock with the ac delco 6 disk in dash cd changer and steering wheel volume and seek controls. My question is, if I change the head unit...which is cake, is there a way to maintain the functionality of the steering controls? Also the lights in the volume control are out, is there a repair known?

i dont know about either of you inquires. but i do believe that if you head over to your local stereo shop, they should know a thing or two about keeping your steering wheel controls. my local shop around me, i have been going to for about 12 years, they can keep steering wheel controls in just about anything. just dont let them rip you off. from what i understand, it doesnt take that long to install the box that interfaces with the radio, and most of the time, the shops get those parts for super cheap.

as far as the lights, they are probably leds that have been hammered on too much and either got loose or gave up the ghost. good luck.

The lights are little LEDs and made into a small circuit board. No friendly to replace. I just bought new controls.

the lights are most likely SMD LED's... unless you have some awesome electronic skills, and a super steady hand, and a REALLY REALLY good soldering iron.
