I bought a 88 S-10 B;azer this past winter. The day I bought it the radio started going on and off, like it was loseing power.basicly it was flashing. I've re-wired it to make sure its doen right didnt work. I put another unit in it. it worked as about as good as the one the came with it. I had the Alt and Battery checked they r fine. I've cleaned the Batt cables, checked the battery ground and the engine ground. What's the problem. sometimes the unit will play fine, but if I'm running something else(ie. lights heater, wipers) and turn a 3rd one on the radio starts to flash(lose power) sometimes it settles back down, sometimes it just flashes the whole time its on. I just cant solve it, and someone on another Blazer board had the same problem, but got no help. this is the second time I've posted this question, Plz someone help!!!!!!

hmmmmmm
I personaly am not sure but if u give me abit I can ask around for u.
Sorry we didnt answer before.
I'm gonna go and ask around for you right now
Is it the Original Headunit in there or is it an aftermarket?
Cause if its the original it would be easier to just switch the headunit to an aftermarket. You will get better control, Quality will go up, More power to speakers. stuff like that

hmmm. he might be grounding out on one of those other things, and its suckin power from all the other stuff. he could also stand to check to make sure hes getting a good current from his alt to battery. other than that im clueless. he should try and make it do it again, and see if its a certain thing that makes it do it. like doesn it only do it if he runs the lights or the heater or something

hes probably getting too much of a voltage drop from old/bad connections.
instead of trying to track down a single bad connection and taking the dash apart, the best solution is prob to run a new power wire from accessory wire at the ignition harness to the radio and then reground the headunit with a new ground wire.

hey im an electrician. go to the supply store and invest in a multimeter. it will run you bout $75 but its plentty worth it, and youll use it again and again. anyway unhook the power from the unit and turn power on and test it(be sure to set meter to dc voltage not ac) then turn abunch of stuff on and see if its voltage drop or not. if the voltage on the meter drops well....voltage drop(the guy that coined that phrase is a genious) also there would be a resistance setting on the metter. check the resistance from the power to the ground wire. if you have a small short but the ground is not fully grounded it wont trip but may act up. also on that note test your ground by testing the contenuity between the ground and the frame of the truck. should be a dead short. if not run a new ground wire. all else fails run the new power wire but check the same thing from the new source. you dont know how far back this problem is. again any more electrical stuff i might be able to help so hit me up. hope some of this helps.

its a ground problem behind radio make sure u have correct ground but if u screwed in ground make sure theres no plastic or even piant in between screw or ring scrape it and clean surface then then retap ground also if you had stock radio and stock radio was running on 10 amp fuse then upgrade fuse to a least a 15 amp for an aftermarket radio , i've seen this problem before on chevys![sm=trust_me.gif]
