Default Stereo Update

Does anyone know the particulars about installing a factory stereo from a newer model (I have a 1997 s-10 blazer) I would like to install a 2010 model cd player. Is it compatible with older computer control units? I really don't like cubby holes and blanks on the dash. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm almost positive a 2010 chevy unit would not be compatible. I would just go for an after market unit if you don't like your stock one. With the 97 dashes you would have to rig a bunch of things to make a double din unit fit right.

Yeah, aftermarket is definitely your best bet probably without modifying the dash and rewiring the car.
