a question i've been wondering...
is 3 subs better than 2.
like say both setups are 1500 watts RMS
2 750watts
3 500watts

that question is very dependent on which subs youre talking about.

are you asking about 3 type r's at 500 each compared to 2 type r's at 750 each?

how did you plan on wiring it if you used 3?

I would just stick with 2......or 1 15.

if you went with 3 dual 2 ohm then your going to have a silly ohm load. 1.34ohms, or 3 ohms.

and if you got 3 dual 4's you'll end up with a 2.67 ohm load.

the type r's are a much better driver for less than $150 each.

Just buy a Type-R or two. More SQ subs than SPL IMO though. However they will really hit the deep notes. I give mine 380 watts from a 5 year old amp in a prefab sealed box from Wal-Mart and rap music sounds just as good as any ported sub box.
