well, today i tried recalibrating my compass on my 01 by driving in the 3 circles, but nothing changed. how big of a circle should it be? does it matter which direction? Do i have to push any buttons? i did a search and only found the answer was to drive in 3 circles.

It is detailed in your owners manual. You may have to reset the variance compensation. I was trying to take a snippet out of the PDF copy of a 2001 Blazer owners manual, but I wasn't successful and dont' have the time right now to mess with it.

Anyway, if you do not have your owners manual, check out MyGMLink.com, register and download your own pdf copy of the owners manual.

All the manual says is:
"The compass is self-calibrating, so it does not need to bemanually set. However, when your vehicle is new, thecompass may function erratically. If it does, CAL(Calibration) will appear on the display. To correct theproblem, drive in a complete 360 degree circle threetimes, and the compass will function normally."

Yeah, Kyle, I couldn't copy that stupid little map, either.

yah i did all that with the variances and what not. i guess im bound to use the sun for guidance. besides everyone knows you dont need the compass if you have half of a brain, but it is getting annoying seeing cal on there, plus it makes you look like cool if you have a compass. lol

How tight were the circles? Whenever I would do it, it wouldn't be as tight as possible. Have you tried more than 3? Where you close to any large buildings?

i did it 3 times in very tight circles, and almost had my lunch again, then moderate sized circles. and no i was probably a good 100 yards from a building, you think that would matter?

No high power lines around you, were there?

If they were the big boy type, you betcha it could. When I had to circle the wagons in mine, I went to a Home Depot lot and did it.
