does the remote have power? maybe the remote hooked to the back of the radio isnt a good power sorce..

Yes, you need to hook the remote input to a 12v+ wire to power the amp on.
You can have this on the ignition 12v+ of the car (the one that turns the head unit on when you put the car into ignition position or accessory position)
You can also have a switch hooked up to turn it on manually.
Usually, people hook it up to the remote out of the head unit.

i have hooked up many amps to the head unit using the remote out on the head unit, to answer your question yes i did have it hooked up there, and well, now idk whats going on, do you think i can run it off of one of the 12v+ wires that actually powers the head unit it self (having 2 wires in on 1 doesnt sound like a good idea) or where should i hook it up at, cause it seems to me, that the remote out on the head unit (also a sony xplod) more than likely died on me, and im tired of having to touch the remote + 12v wire on the amp to get it to work and undoing it etc etc
i guess i can experiment later today, hopefully i dont blow my self up =D

Yes you can connect it to the switched power wire on the HU. Chances are you accidentally shorted the remote wire to ground at some point while the HU was on and blew the little internal fuse or circuit that controls the remote out. As long as the source is switched with the key you can connect the remote wire to it.

welllllllllllllllll i feel dumb.........it was just the remote wire itself that was bad

LOL, glad you found the problem. Sometimes its the simplest things that escape us when beginning to troubleshoot. Looks like ya got it figured out before you spent too much time on it though. Happy Bumpin'!

well, up next is to build a box i think im going to get some 12" Pioneer subs

What's your budget on the subs? There's a great possibility that you could get something much nicer than the pioneers, with a better warranty and in most cases that is rebuildable if it fails or if you just want something different/bigger/smaller for the same money or maybe just slightly more than you're going to spend on the Pioneers. There's a TON of great subs on the market, you should really shop around and find the best bang for your buck first.
