Dont really understand what it does.

its a line level input. So you can run an amp if you dont have any RCA jacks on your head unit.

i haven't seen one of those since i was in high school (and that was quite a while ago).

my friend had them they aren't as good as a head unit with rca outputs in the back. These are usually used when someone wants to keep their stock radio
