Default What should I do.

Hey guys need some advice. My dad bought me a cheap Speaker System for Christmas. Its a VR3 RTS3000T. It says its 300 Watts max and 60 watts RMS. The speaker box has two 6 1/2 inch speakers and two horn tweeters. My question is should i buy a cheap amp of eBay (like this). Or should i splice these speakers into my rear speakers.

I wouldn't have bought these and Im not really big into sound systems but i just want to install them and see what happens. What do you guys think i should do. I know buying the amp will be the simplelist thing to do vs. ripping out my rear panels. I just want to know if splicing them into the rears will be a bad idea or will it just work out fine. Im not looking for the best sound i just want to be able to hear the speaker and give my truck a little more sound. i also don't want to spend more that 40 for an amp. I know the one off ebay is probably junk. Thanks guys.

$40 for an amp AND wires? $40 for an amp wires AND install, or $40 for an amp, with more $ for wires/install?

if you have $40 and want an amp (easiest way to do what you want and still have it sound decent) your best bet is to look for a meth head selling his/a stolen amp on craigslist. make sure you can SEE it work so you dont buy fried crap, and you're off and running. as far as car audio goes... 440 wont go far, so it's good you are not all that interested in it

BTW if you can search/use google, you can install an amp... hell i pulled it off and I SUCK at real life...

do NOT splice them in to your existing sound system. You will most likely end up damaging something.

you could buy a factory amp with the wires attached and splice into it. i did it for my garages stereo and it was out of a 93 mustang. i have the pin outs available for that setup if you want

As long as you to it correctly and make sure and electrical tape all exposed wires splicing them into your current rear speakers should not harm anything at all. It will however reduce the amount of wattage being drawn from your rear speakers to split between the rear set of speakers and the new ones. If you need more info in depth let me know.

Hey guys thanks for the reply's. jacobc89 i thought it might cause less wattage but how will that actually effect the sound and loudness. What do you guys think of that cheap ebay amp. My Head Unit has a bunch of different settings and if i would splice it in i would just set the fad to the back speakers a bit. then i would use the loud setting on my radio.

It should work i just don't want to do it if i will lose almost all sound from the back. Then i might just go with the cheap amp. Just to let you know my radio is one of those fancy Phase Linear's with the retractable screens. It came with my truck.
