Wiring question
 

Ok so a friend of mine told me how he wired some 12v accesories in his explorer, his method was stripping the end of the wire and wrapping that around the prongs of a fuse then pushing the fuse in its slot and grounding the ground wire. I told him about just tapping into the 12v accesory wire and wiringg to that but he said his method was easier.

So my question is, is his method easier and is it even safe??

Its pretty safe, but I wouldnt do it for anything that drew much amperage at all. Ive hard-wired radar detectors in a similar way but I laid the wire across the slot and forced it in with the fuse cuz it made a much tighter connection. Loose connection = Problems...thats also how many house fires start, cuz the loose connection basically acts like a miniature arc welder throwing sparks and heating up and eventually starting a fire or at least melting down plastic outlets, switches, etc. ;)

Is he putting the wire on the "load" side of the fuse so as to have circuit protection? If you are gonna wire up something that uses alot of amps then use a relay

I am installing a two amp system in a friends 98 blazer with the factory head unit, what do I need for the pre-amps? What would they connect to?
