Default 1989 GMC Jimmy project

So like Ive said in other threads, my boyfriend got me a 1989 GMC S15 Jimmy for V-day!!! It has no motor and no trasmission right now. He said he wants to put a V8 in it and try to find a decent tranny. Im new to learning about the ins and outs of a vehicle so this project will be very exciting for us to do together. I will definitely be posting up pics and info as we build!!! I look foward to getting suggestions and help from all of you [sm=smiley20.gif]

Nice starting platform. I've put v8s in 4 different trucks but they have all been 2wd and only one was street legal. One of these days when I get another driver I'm gonna put a solid front axle and a v8 in my 87.

What motor did the blazer come with? Is it floor shift 4x4 or the push button?

If its not 4x4 then you don't have either.
The motor question deals with what the truck had in it before the motor was pulled.

I have a set of 2.8 to gen1 V8 mounts I can take measurements off of so you can build your own. If I may make any suggestions use heddman headers for the swap.

JTR is ok but if you want real info from guys that have done this swap and drive them daily check out www.v8s10.org (i'm also over there). I've seen the JTR book and wouldn't waste my money on it. Has too much mis info in it and explains some pretty simple things way too complated. Its basically just a big ad that you have to buy for their products.

Yeah I asked my bf about it. I knew it wasnt 4x4...i just didnt know what a floor shifter or push button was.

We dont know what kind of motor was in it before we got it. The guy was kinda dumb lol.

I didnt like the JTR site anyway, the book did look likea waste of money. Thanks for the v8s10 link tho!! I will def check it out!
