Yea I wish , I'm poor as the next guy , but this is what I do for fun . I have a lot of friends , that helps . I try to manage my money the best I can , but beside this my life is very boring most of the time .

90% of our mudding is either a race or competition , or on our private property . I will post on here before I have another race at my house , just in case anyone is interested in joining us .
|
Its been a while since I have been on but plans changed now for axles I'm going with a GM 14 bolt and for the front hopefully Dana 60 s but if not then Dana 44 s . I have the rear 14 bolt already installed in the blazer . Holy crap talk about wide , the brake drums are where my 35s were , the whole tire sticks out from under the truck . The bad thing is there 8 lug 16.5 wheels , and the axle is heavy as heck , more than twice the weight of the Dana 35 . Tomorrow a friend and I are going to garys u pull it to search for front axles .
|
I have been working on my blazer quite a bit , I have the new 14 bolt in and I bought a dana 44 for the front . And bought new 37 inch military tires , and two sets of 16.5 wheels 4 wide and 4 military bead lock run flats . There pretty crazy pics coming soon . And I made it through my mud pit finally .

new axles going through mud

Heres the 14 bolt rear and one of the new 37s
Attachment 32179 and heres the dana 44 Attachment 32180 My toy Attachment 32181 muddy blazer Attachment 32182 I'll add more picrures later of the beadlock runflats |
I'm also going to do a high steer set up to fix the angle on the steering , and that will help with the bump steer . I'm just happy to have my ride back , but right now I have zero brakes . For now I'm going to do rear disk brakes on the 14 bolt , its the cheapest way I have seen . Theres no conversion for the closed knuckle 1967 f 250 dana 44 so I will have to go with drum on the front and disk on the rear . At this point it would probably be easier to drive backwards anyway , its the only clean window . Here's the kit for the rear
14 Bolt Disc Brake Bracket for Single Rear Wheels (SRW) - RuffStuff Specialties |
^ i used those brackets for my 14bolt with 76chevy calipers, really nice so far, but i have a 78ford dana 44 with dual piston calipers, i may have air in the line or need an 80s master cylinder b/c I still have a soft peddle.
|
I found a disk break conversion for the the closed knuckle dana 44 , I doubt I'll by this kit but its good to know it can be done . I'll make my own bracket for the calipers and see what happens . If they only sound the brackets I would probably buy them but they don't .

A few beers and lots of mud
Me pulling my friend jordie out , he just took the 54 mickis off because the clutch was going , the 33s can't do much in this mud . when I found this hole I had the 35 thornebirds on and I sank to the frame , the 22 inches of lift did not help . Sorry the video girl may have had one to many LOL .
|
Truck sounds good, all things considered... :S
|
Impressive work ATV...a few posts I skimmed over b/c its so long, but the transition from before/after is incredible.
What are your future plans for this truck? (i.e. mods) Will it stay deep in the mud or ever thought about getting into the rocks a bit more? |

Thanks I like it , I'm just doing little things now , making it more functional . I'm going to clock the 205 down 1.5 to 3 inches , the clocking ring lets me choose from either position . That will help with the front drive shaft angle , I just recently broke the yoke on the transfer case and both the front u joints . Its been a real process getting her the way I want her but when I'm done I should have a fun road legal vehicle again , that I can hopefully run relatively hard and not break anything . But if I find the set of 2 1/2 ton Rockwell steer axles for the right price shes going 4 wheel steer and a little bigger probably .
|
mother of god 4 wheel steer . LOL hows it going gene ? the kids?

Indeed Glad every thing is well..

Today my blazer impressed me once again , we had some big block company on the hill today , with even bigger tires and lift than me . But he could not make it through the mud pit , even with his new holes he made the blazer just walked right through it like it was nothing . I still haven't purchased the clocking ring , I just replaced the yoke on the transfer case and bought all new u joints again for now so at least I can play till I get it . But I did order some shorty headers finally I'm going to run them upside down and run the exhaust out the fenders for now , she should really come alive . Right now it has stock exhaust manifolds that are very restrictive there ports are even smaller than the heads .
|
Having the exhaust exit the fenders would make your blazer even more bada** than it is now.

Yea the only thing bad is my friend eddie already did the fender exhaust

My Blazer has been stuck on the hill every since our last mud session , The blazer did great but when I tried jumping the pond I broke both front and rear drive shafts . I already rebuilt the front a couple weeks ago but the rear was shreaded so I had to wait to get parts , shes all fixed now . But it was dark by the time I was done , so I didn't get any snow wheeling video yet .

looks good, but i think its time to upgrade that steering.

Mines still setup like yours, I tried to run crossover, but draglink still hit my leafs, even after adding a spacer.
I made my drag and tierod though, and running one ton tie rod ends. pretty sure i i have 3.5" drop pitman now. Like this "Y" Link Steering using GM 1 Ton TRE - RuffStuff Specialties The guy with the blue blazer with my old ifs lift, is ripping it all down to put 2.5 tons under it. Hes just waiting for the lift to sell to get the money to finish the axles. Ill never go that far, less its all cage and no longer looks much like a blazer..lol. |
Yea I have a straight pitman arm ( no drop ) and tie rods go in the bottom right now . But I could flip them to the top and get a drop pitman arm and that would help , It drives pretty well untill you hit a bump then hold on cause its anyones guess where shes going , safe enough for the mud pit but not a chance on the road .Someday I would like to be able to drive her on the road again , heck my buddy Jordies truck has rockwells and he had it on the road , had school bus rotors on the front and rear , disk brakes . Does your blazer have alot of bump steer ?

I keep forgetting you dont drive yours on the road much. Y i suggested it.
Mine has no bumpsteer at all and very little angle. https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1357671993 |

Nice check out this baby I just traded my rocket for it , its a 79 highboy with a lift kit and 38 inch thornebirds , so now I have two sets .
https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1357702916 https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1357702916 I can't believe he traded , we took the truck for a ride through the mud pit tonight , its kinda gutless compared to my 302 . And this is a big block , I think it needs a serious tune up . |
Very nice, i dont mind those older ford trucks. with 38s probably needs some better gears. tune ups never hurt either.
|
Skotti when I traded for the truck it was muddy and dark outside so I didn't really get a good look at the truck , the whole truck was covered with mud . But I washed it tonight and wait till you see the pictures , I got myself a good deal . Somebody spent some money on the lift , Its friggen nice , and I figured being a NY vehicle it would be rusty and about junk , but it is beautiful , I don't even want to drive it in the mud anymore . I was thinking of using it to tow my blazer around .
|
Even covered in mud looks like a decent truck...lol.
|
I agree

Today I washed my mud trucks , it took all day . The last time we were in the mud pit I broke the rear shackle on the 14 bolt , and this is the warmest it has been since . Now that I have her all cleaned up I have to fix the spring perch and once again throw another u joint in her . And I still haven't bought the parts for the rear disk brake conversion , so still no brakes . Once my tax return comes I'll solve that problem , for now I'm only doing the rear because I think I'm going to buy a different front end that has disk brakes already , or just go for it and buy the deuce and a half's that I really want . Been researching the heck out of 4 link and coil over shocks for the blazer , who knows whats going to happen .
