302 FORD in a chevy s10 blazer 4x4 - YouTube

atvwarrior 02-18-2012 02:44 PM

Awesome thanks man I have no idea what I was doing wrong . In the video my 8 year old daughter was filming , did you notice her jump and after that she had a death grip on my shoulder , she did a real good job though . I have a few pictures of the blazer after a little test ride .
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...TESTRUN002.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...TESTRUN003.jpg
I love the way this engine feels in the blazer , very torquey , it's all starting to pay off . Also I had to take the loader over and help my buddy move his deuce and a half's into his garage so he can start rebuilding them , he made his own wheels and the tires are almost as tall as me and I'm 6'2" . I never have my camera with me when I'm over there , I did take it over last night but we just hung out in the man cave drinking some beers and watching speed channel .
And heres my first video on youtube playing on the pond . This was just a couple weeks ago. And I just figured out how to post a video , so there be more to come .
4x4 donuts on a frozen pond - YouTube

I see many people have viewed my thread but no one has indicated if my blazer looks ok or not. Not that I had actually asked but typically people will comment. Well I like it! I think it looks pretty sweet. My kids think I'm a cool mom with a cool ride! :icon_roflmao: [quote by shablaze]
Hint HInt .

atvwarrior 02-19-2012 03:49 PM

Sweet I just noticed I'm not a junior member , never been happier to be a senior . Today I jigger rigged me a shifter so I didn't have to climb under the truck to put it gear . It turned out pretty good , and I went up to the ford and got the speedometer cable , and I think I'm going to fab the f150 gauge cluster into the blazer . Luckely I have enough stuff to do that don't cost alot of money , so I will keep doing what I can do until my tax return gets here . I am already ahead of schedule anyway , but I want to get it done before I go back to work in the spring .

Thogert 02-19-2012 07:48 PM

Very nice work there.

coop22 02-20-2012 07:34 AM

It is a cool machine you have there, keep up the good work.

atvwarrior 02-20-2012 06:14 PM

Thanks guys now I feel better . This morning when I was moving the blazer back over to the shop I felt a clunck in th rear end , broken universal joint , it was the old u joint that was on the blazer I just reused it ( for now until I do the SAS swap ) . So it's going to take 4 to 6 weeks to get the ORD solid axle kit once I order it so I decided to put new universals in these drive shafts for now . So now the 4 wheel drive is hooked up and working . And the I also got the speedometer hooked up , Now I have to get the throttle cable hooked up , ( right now its just ran into the cab and operated by hand , other wise I would have taken my camera and you guys for a ride . I also fixed the power steering , I just had the wrong spacer so the belt would flip over when it was running . I worked my butt off today but it didn't seem like I got much done , o well tomorrows another day .

wheninromeSDS 02-20-2012 10:13 PM

Glad everything is coming along, I love how that engine sits in there. I wish I could take her for a test! I've been following this on a regular basis, and man is it killing me! lol. Do you have any interior pictures or anything?

atvwarrior 02-21-2012 10:18 AM

Thats awesome , thanks man , its great to hear that others are as interested in seeing this happen as me . It really encourages me to keep things moving and to share whats going on with the build . I can get some interior pictures but I haven't done nothing in there yet , its mostly full of tools and parts . I ordered some digital gauges for the gauge pod , I don't like the plastic oil pressure line , I realize I could have bought the copper line but I bought the electric one instead , that way I don't have to worry about breaking that line . I spent a couple hours polishing up the diamond plate for the fire wall , even though it's just going to get muddy anyway . Every night when I'm done working on the blazer , I set in my recliner and make a list of what else has to be done , I probably have 30 pages of notes and check lists , so a lot of thought has gone into this project . Again I appreciate the kind words .

I decided to give her a bath , so I wouldn't have mud dropping on me while working on it. This morning I brought the camera out with me and tried to video the ride over to the shop , it was a little tricky to steer and film and the other hand operated the throttle . I will look at it and if its worth posting I will .

SHE MOVES

man i love the video gene =) keep up the good work bud

TheRandom1 02-21-2012 06:41 PM

Hot damn that sounded really really good!

atvwarrior 02-21-2012 08:35 PM

Thanks guys I appreciate it , it was 29 degrees when I took the video , and the truck is real cold blooded . I think it has a lot to do with the carb , it does sound good though . I'll get another video with the engine warmed up its quite a bit more responsive . Tomorrow I'm going to give it a oil change , and flush the coolant , and today I received word my tax return will be here Friday . I can't wait . I'm not so sure about waiting the 4 to 6 weeks for the ORD kit to arrive so I may just go ahead and make my own SAS kit . At this point I have everything but time , I just got word that I'll be going back to work in two weeks . The rush is on .

Today I am finally going to purchase my axles I'm still not sure wich ones I'll get ,its either goin to be the jeep wagoneer or the yj axles . I'll make up my mind once I get there ,

I desided on the yj axles I bought both front and back for 600 dollars , I can't wait , and I'll post some pictures later on . Right now I'm working on cleaning them up and making a parts list for all the new goodies I'm putting onto them .

atvwarrior 02-23-2012 01:51 PM

Heres a couple pictures of the jeep that I bought the parts off .
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...epaxles005.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...epaxles006.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...epaxles007.jpg
And here they are in my shop waiting for me to rebuild them .
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...epaxles008.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...epaxles009.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...epaxles010.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...epaxles011.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...epaxles012.jpg
And thats it for now I'll get some more as I proceed .
I found out that 4wdfactory has the sky manufacturing solid axle kit that ships same day , so I will be ordering that kit and I will make my own shock hoops . I can get everything I need for 245 shipped , plus I also spung for the Dana 30 spring perches . I should have these by next Wednesday . I removed the diff cover and counted the teeth on the ring gear there are 41 and there are 10 on the pinion gear , so if My math is correct I have 4.10 gear ratio . My bunch of my friends came over tonight and gave me a few good ideas , I'm going to keep the stock rear leaf springs in order to keep it from riding like a lumber wagon . And the leaf springs that were on the jeep front end I'll also use , My friend says that will put me up 6 inches , thats perfect , I don't want to go to big so it won't fit down the trails .

xgiovannix12 02-23-2012 06:00 PM

sweet did ya get them from garys ?

that payloader looks familiar

atvwarrior 02-23-2012 06:48 PM

Na I got them from lances junk yard in Maine NY . there just over the hill from me (about 10 minutes away . The guys that operate this place are good guys , I used to work there when I was younger . He's suposed to have my 90 - 94 cherokee steering shaft and the astovan steering box in the morning . It' so cool that I found away around the long wait time on the solid axle kit . All I can say is its going to be like christmas around here for a little while , I have so many parts ordered it's hard to keep track of them all . I'm like a fat kid in a candy store except I'm a skinny f----r in a auto parts store .

xgiovannix12 02-23-2012 08:01 PM

=P i plan on doing the steering shaft swap also

I need to pick one up when i head to garys

atvwarrior 02-24-2012 06:42 AM

I found some wheel adapters for the Dana 30 5x4.5 to 5x4.75 for 129.97 so I can still run the wheels I have now .
And this is the nitrous kit I'll be ordering today
KMJ Performance*::*NITROUS AND ACCESSORIES*::*Carburated Nitrous Systems*::*NITROUS SPRAY-PLATE KIT RACE SYSTEM HOLLEY 4150 SQUARE
and heres the front axle hanger kit from sky manufacturing
https://www.4wdfactory.com/store/pro...xle-Hanger-Kit

I have purchased all the above parts and the wheel adapters and I also received a shipment , My new digital gauges for the pillar pod . And theres a coupon code in there for any of you looking into gauges .

http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...OWSHIFT039.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...OWSHIFT041.jpg

So funny , my 8 year old daughter just returned home from school , and I showed her the nitrous kit that purchased today and she stuck her had up in the air for a high five and said good job dad . My 12 almost 13 year old likes the skulls and the digital gauges , and my wife well she's not to impressed with any of it .

atvwarrior 02-25-2012 08:51 PM

It is ok to do consecutive posts on a build thread right ? I have a few pictures of my friends truck that I have been talking about and a few pictures of my blazer with the new digital gauges .
This is the mud truck
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse018.jpg
And heres the 15,000 dollar and still improving truck .

http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse020.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse021.jpg
And heres the new bumper we went and got this morning , its off a brand new tractor trailer , our friend who bought a new rig bought a custom bumper so this one was just laying around brand new , he sold it for 250 bucks .
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse016.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse021.jpg
My new digital gauges in the blazer
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse022.jpg
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse023.jpg
And how about these tires for the blazer there 54s brand new from military outlet , he paid let for these tires than I'm going to have to pay for my 35 SW thornbirds , and there going on a huge ford excursion thats a 10 nitrous injected , with five ton axles .
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse017.jpg
I'll get some more pictures we have a sweet truck coming to get new tires and hem joints . And I'll get a picture of the ford excursion and the new rear disk brake set up my friend made for the five ton axles .

And now back to my truck , My friends mom just replaced the rear end in her jeep and they decided to keep the core and they gave me the disk rear brake set up so I can switch my rear axle over to disk brakes . I drove the truck on the road for the first time today , I'm more in love with this blazer than ever . It drove great , the digital gauges look totally awesome , it shifted so good . Alright I have had probably more than one to many but I had to post this tonight.

xgiovannix12 02-25-2012 08:55 PM

Glad to see shes running good

those are sweet trucks and also the tires a HUGE

atvwarrior 02-26-2012 03:52 PM

We are going to be mounting those tire this week I'll get some pictures , I have a few more pictures I just uploaded .
This is the battery disconnect I bought today at harbor freight

And my sisters blazer meets mine for the first time .
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...s4x4car051.jpg
And heres a picture of the wheels my friend is making for the 2.5 ton Rockwell axles .
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...eshouse015.jpg
I'm hoping this week will be a relatively productive , I have so much I want to get done . I bought 5 rolls of wire for the welder and about 60 different 4 and a half grinding , cut off and sanding disks , And a bunch of other stuff .

atvwarrior 02-28-2012 09:13 AM

I worked in the shop from 9am to 12am , But my exhaust is done , flowmaster exhaust and it comes out just before the front tires on both sides . Its sounds quite but good its got great throttle response , it sounds just like a 5.0 mustang real throaty sounding . We are working on the big truck that I have been talking about , I'll load some pictures . It has rear steer , air bags , suicide front doors and its huge , we had to let all the air out of the bags and flatten the tires to get it in the shop and the shop is built for big mud trucks . I also bought the 4 barrel intake for my blazer yesterday , Its polished and it has the nitrous bosses already in it .

red98grandamse 02-28-2012 04:49 PM

Nice build so far. I think that I need to get up on that hill and see this thing sometime soon. My sister lives up in your area (between Maine and Newark Valley on the hill), so I'm up near you often enough.

Yes sir I agree , this is a truck we are working on for a friend , its a cool truck but not my style either . We are just installing the new Mickey Thompson 54s and the heim joints .

Thogert 02-29-2012 11:36 AM

Wow, even the step bars would be at my belt line. I think I would need a stool to carry around to get in.

I'm 6'2" and weigh 165 and I have a hard time , its huge . I would not want to drive this truck down the road , the tires weigh almost as much as my blazer , sure is nice to look at though .:icon_drink:

Parts are starting to trickle in now , I received my new spring perches today , and I found out today that they refunded my money for the nitrous kit . I'm just going to get a kit from summit , there so easy to deal with and you know whats going on with your shipment , I like jeggs to but I have to buy a msd ignition box anyway and summit makes there own version of it thats a little cheaper and does the same thing .

atvwarrior 03-01-2012 10:29 PM

Today I purchased more parts , I bought the summit digital electronic ignition box and a chevy style one wire alternator powder coated yellow . I also recieved the wheel adapters / spacers today and recieved a email from 4wdfactory saying my SAS parts are shipped .

xgiovannix12 03-01-2012 10:34 PM

WOOT progress ! =)

http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/...tionbox008.jpg

atvwarrior 03-04-2012 11:10 AM

I installed the new intake and changed the oil again for the second time this week , wow its amazing what a good carburetor does for a engine . The torque from the engine with the solid engine mounts really makes the truck sway with the engine rev . And it looks supper cool , the only thing bad is that I broke the damd thermostat housing ( rookie mistake ) that I seem to do alot , I would rather change a transmission than do a thermostat , I just hate them . But anyway after searching several local stores for a new thermostat housing in stock , i found one in Ithaca NY . My wife is going to pick that and a few other things for me , while I change her tie rod ends on her Taurus and intake gasket , so I better get to it before she gets home and strangles me .

xgiovannix12 03-04-2012 11:23 AM

lol you better get outside gene =P

im installing my h4 harness and my hands froze up
so i came in for a few mins =P

atvwarrior 03-04-2012 11:44 AM

Heck yea its cold , she just called from auto zone and they said they didn't have it , I talked to the guy at auto zone for 30 minutes telling him he did have the part somewhere because I called and had someone there look before I even sent my wife there ( this has happened before ) but finally after 30 minutes he found the part right on the shelf where it was supposed to be . I'm not knocking the guys at auto zone because I know there computers screw them up , but at least I got my part .

atvwarrior 03-06-2012 01:05 PM

I have a few more pictures , the blazer runs and drives down the road great right now . I am still waiting on the kit from 4wdfactory for the solid axle conversion . I Now have the new intake and carburetor on and tuned , wow it's awesome .
Heres my choke cable and vacuum hose for the vacuum advance on the distributor

Benedict1337 03-06-2012 02:05 PM

I had no idea you put a v8 in your blazer sounds pretty cool. lemme know when you want to hit up rausch creek

atvwarrior 03-06-2012 02:45 PM

Sounds good , I have a lot of friends who want to go check out rausch creek , I will let you know before we decide to come down , once we do I think we'll become regulars . Yea the v-8 is great , I friggen love it , and I can't wait to get in some mud . Also I'm still waiting to do the solid axle swap , once I get the kit it's going on . And I still have to order the roll cage , it's getting close to race season so I'm starting to feel the pressure . Tomorrow I hope to get the summit ignition box installed and the hood pins also my bosses daughter needs me to change some parts on her car , but its going to be beutiful out tomorrow so it should be a good day in the shop .

atvwarrior 03-07-2012 01:38 PM

I made a few more purchases today , I bought a new grill , because we smashed the old one pushing it into the shop with my buddies Geo tracker . And I also bought a rebuild kit for the Dana 30 , and a posi lock to engage the 4x4 . I'll be posting more pictures soon . I am still waiting on the kit from 4wdfactory , and there is no phone number to contact them , I have no clue what is going on . I hate having that kind of money out there and no way to contact the person , its a little scary . They are in Texas so it probably will take awhile to get here though .

Blazin_Jason 03-07-2012 07:56 PM

Plan on selling the posi-lok when you do the sas?

atvwarrior 03-08-2012 01:55 PM

The posi-lok is for the Dana 30 axle , I should go down to auto zone and get new wheel bearings for the s10 while there still under warranty , but I'm ready right now to do the SAS , I'm just waiting for parts . I did go purchase the G20 van that I have been talking about , and washed it and made a parts list for the tune up . For a van this thing is bad , one night on the way home from work we stopped at the bar and when we left my Buddie stays floor this b***h so I got right in the center of the road and held the brakes and matted it , it started walking sideways down the road , we left a nice duel tire burn out for about 75 ft .

UPS just showed up with this
