Default 1997 Blazer Fun

Starting to play with the 1997 4 door 4X4 Blazer. Swapped a vortec 350 into about 17 yrs ago drove it for a few years and pulled engine for a different project. Loved driving it so the revival begins. Hoping to put a 5.3 in it this time around but have all the 350 stuff at hand so will have to see. Forgot to take pics before tearing into it. Will probably be a bit slow going. Just want to add this pic was taken 12/15/23.

Sounds like some fun plans. I'm curious to see you build it.

I've wanted to put an LS in mine for years, but the 4.3 refuses to die and money is tight.

This is how it sits now with new bushings, brakes and such being gathered. Have a 98 donor blazer which gave me better brakes and 3.73 instead of 3.42. Have lots of smalls that need some paint yet. Was really cold for a patch and hard to keep shop painting warm. Nice weather now so hope to get back at it. These are 1/15/24 pics.

Primed

Frame is pretty much done. Hopefully more time to direct towards this. Hope to get engine to machine shop Mon. Took a couple hours to get the broken body mount bolt, but wasn't going to cut any holes to do it. Working on under body surface rust and will start looking at engine placement soon.

Have all wiring re loomed except engine harness. Still blending Blazer and Suburban harnesses for that and will loom after routing plan. But all new bushings brakes and such on frame and had to rebuild front diff because of engage gear ground down. All new vac lines and switches should remedy that. Hopefully more sooner this time.
